The USS Constitution was the first of the "big four" American warships constructed at Jamestown in 1795. After serving as a flagship for Commodore John Adams during the revolution and then being used as an training ship throughout the 1800s, she served as part of the United States Navy from 1812 to 1898. She saw action in every major war between America and Great Britain, including two devastating engagements off India's coast in 1814 and 1815. In both cases, Constitution fought bravely but ultimately lost. In 1925, The USS Constitution Foundation was established to preserve and restore her remains. The foundation has since donated over 60 vessels to various museums around the world.
Lansdale is a borough in Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 7,611 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Allentown–Wilkes-Barre, PA Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Borough was formed on November 3, 1828 from portions of the town of Wilkes-Barre. On February 26, 1829 it passed a resolution to form a school board and to provide for maintaining public schools within the borough. In 1832 it became an incorporated village under its own government with voting rights and its own police department. On March 15th, 1835 it merged with the Town of Easton to form the current Borough of Lansdale. Lansdale has been located in Lehigh County since 1795 when it was part of Northampton Township until that township was disbanded in 1799 due to land acquisitions by John D'Arcy Partridge (26 years old). The first settler in what would become Lansdale was Isaac Swartz who arrived around 1800 from Bohemia (now Czech Republic). He built a house on what is now Lansdale Road and named his property "Swartz's Crossing". Swartz used this location as an early market place and social center for his community which he called "the Crossroads". In 1798 Abraham Darst erected a small log cabin on what is today York Road near where he still lives today. His cabin served as both his home and office until about 1800 when he moved to nearby Wilkes-Barre where he set up shop as a justice of peace In addition to being one of the earliest settlers in what would become Lansdale, Abraham Darst also played an important role in developing Welsh culture within Lehigh County through his purchase of some Welsh cultural artifacts from Captain John Smith during British military occupation (1778 - 1783). These artifacts were later stored at Lansingburgh Historical Society Library before being donated to Pennsylvania State University campus library system by Mrs. Jules Kappehert during her tenure as Director of Collections at Penn State University Archives beginning in 1984 . From these purchases emerged research into Welsh culture within Lehigh County which continues today at Penn State University's Schuylkill Valley Folklife Center managed by Professor James Muhlenbergs Department of History & Archaeology

Lansdale is a town in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Erie–Buffalo–Niagara Falls, PA Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first European to set foot in what is now Lansdale was Dutchman Hendrick van der Zandt on October 5, 1681 when he and his horse Pieter arrived from New Netherland. He named the area "Lansdale" after his home town of Albany in New York. In 1834, James Fenton purchased some of the land that would form Lansdale Township from John Prentice. He built a log cabin which he called "Fenton's Cabin." In 1835, he also erected a dwelling known as "Fenton's House." In 1839, property line changes led to the name change to "Lansdale Township". In 1855, John Ladd purchased 100 acres (40 hectares) of land east of present-day Lansdale for $1 per acre ($/ha). His farmstead became known as "Ladd's Farm". The Ladd family operated this farm until 1934 when it passed away to their grandnephew and namesake Harry Bancroft Ladd who continued to run it until his death in 1978. In 1907-1908 there were two small fires on Mr. Ladd's property; one near where US 22 crosses County Line Road and another just south of Old Forge RD about two hundred yards from his house - both completely prevented by hand firefighting measures used at that time! By 1910 Mr. Ladd had abandoned all farming operations except raising chickens and pigeons because woolen cloth production with spinning machines then came into vogue throughout most of America due largely theretofore uneconomic prices for milled woolen yarn caused by technological advances during those years....... [the] post office located here between 1909-1917 served not only people living within a few miles but also many people living far away in Lackawanna County because mail deliveries were made twice weekly by wagonloads full of letters sent via stagecoach across Buffalo Creek...... parcels could be sent either way without penalty..... Mrs. Anna Kapp Logan opened her store on Main Street (now Kensington Avenue) next door to Mrs. Logan’s rented boardinghouse starting June 10th 1898 selling established items such as hats & caps etc., groceries (local produce), notions etc., children’s clothes etc., through out 8 ½ years before she closed down January 6th 1906 due to financial difficulties...........Milton Seltzer bought 50% interest in Mrs Kapp Logan’s business November 15th 1912...... On April 25th 1916 Milton Seltzer married Edna Crouse......... [Seltzer is listed as owner on deeds dated 1922-1927]............................
