When it comes to coffee, Harrisburg is a city that knows its thing. From the early days of roasting and grinding, to the current day production methods, Harrisburg has a rich history in the beverage. The first beans were roasted onsite at The Harrisburg Coffee House in 1795. This establishment was part of what is now The Capital Grains Company building located on Main Street. At this time, coffee was not considered a high-quality commodity like it is today. Instead, it was more akin to tea or cocoa. However, over time coffee became more popular and began being exported from Harrisburg. Eventually, other cities around the country started importing beans fromHarrisburg as well. By 1860, coffee had become a major industry in Harrisburg and was beginning to be exported nationally. At this time, The Hershey Company purchased the Capital Grains Company building and began producing their own brand of premium coffee called Hershey's Coffee (later changed to Hershey's Chocolate). This continued until 1972 when the company merged with Keurig Green Mountain Corporation (KGC). At this point, KGC ceased production of their own brand of coffee and substituted Hershey's Coffee for Keurig Coffee products throughout most of America (although certain stores continued to produce their own brands). In recent years there have been several efforts by locals within KGC to restart production of their old-school branded Beans on Site program which allows residents access to hand-roasted beans direct from the farm where they are grown!

Harrisburg (/ˈhɑrtsᵻβət/; Pennsylvania Dutch: Harrisburg) is the capital of Pennsylvania and the seat of government for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Located in western Pennsylvania on the Susquehanna River, it is a major center for education, politics, and economic development. The city is home to the United States Capitol and Harrisburg University. The first Europeans to visit what is now Harrisburg were French traders and missionaries in 1681. Lieutenants Jacques Marquette and Jean Nicolet explored the Susquehanna River valley in 1688 and reported back to France that they had found an area rich in coal and other minerals. In 1751, John Forbes became governor of British North America after defeating George Washington at Yorktown. He recommended that Parliament give him authority to build a new capital in what would become Harrisburg. Forbes obtained funding from both sides of the Atlantic Ocean to begin construction on what would eventually be called Grand View Station. The first buildings were completed in 1753: Fort Ottawa was erected near present-day Market Square, while Fort Pitt was built east of downtown on Second Street. In 1763, delegates from thirteen colonial colonies met at Great Meadows near Philadelphia to create a new Confederation as part of the American Revolution. The Declaration of Independence was drafted here on July 4, 1776 by a group including delegates from both sides of the Susquehanna River Valley. After independence was ratified, Grand View Station served as temporary headquarters while General George Washington moved his Headquarters westward across Americans Field (later West Chesterfield Avenue) into newly constructed Mount Vernon Barracks (now Goodyear Hall). The citys growth accelerated during World War II when Pittsburgh became known as Americas largest military production center due to its significant contributions to aircraft production within Roosevelt Roads Group companies such as P-38 Lightning fighters for Allied Forces Europe (AEAF), P-39 Airacobras for Japanese forces fighting against Russia in China etc., as well as tanks and artillery pieces fielded by U..S forces throughout Asia Pacific theater; however Harrisburg surpassed Pittsburgh only after 1945 with its population reaching over 200,000 residents during wartime years 1945 through 1949 alone! Additionally post-war growth continued with suburban development along Pennsylvanias Turnpike corridor which paralleled Chambers County borderline until Interstate 80 arrived giving access directly into central PA from all corners! In 1951 when Philadelphias City Council decided not expand their boundaries past current Sixth Street southward because more room could be found northward following annexation byPhiladelphia subsequent year; this left Harrisburg with its original core consisting only of downtown & immediate vicinity plus any outlying suburbs or rural areas annexed subsequently! Downtown business district has experienced continual rebirth since then with numerous high profile projects announced or already under way such as $100 million renovation & modernization – Stroudsburg Business District Development Authority plans initial groundbreaking ceremony January 8th 2016 marking completion phase 2 – ambitious goal set for soon completed Center City Terminal complex redevelopment project which will include 1 million sqft office space / resident housing / parkland
