Hargrave continued running the business until it closed around 1936. A few years later, another coffee house opened up on Second Street near High School called "The Friendly Coffee House". This establishment served as a meeting place for local farmers and traders before becoming a grocery store around 1907. The building still stands today and is used by the nearby University of Wyoming as their student union building (now known asITE). The next generation of coffee entrepreneurs started businesses between 1916 and 1948 including Harry Carver Sr., Harry Carver Jr., Don Kalkbrenner, Jack Harrigan and Jay Robb (later Jaffe Brothers Corporation). These men were responsible for introducing innovative new methods such as automatic espresso machines and pour over brewing systems which made coffee more accessible to a wider audience than ever before. When World War II ended, many soldiers returning home wereldon't able to find jobs because they needed only one skill: manufacturing goods necessary for war effort like beer cans or cigarettes. So these men started their own businesses instead: Ralphs soft drinks (1946), The Gilded Cage pet food store (1948), Artisan Cigars Inc.(1949) - all within minutes of each other! By 1951 there were more than 130 different small businesses operating in town alone! Ephrata, Pa., is a small town in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, United States. As of the 2010 census, the population was 5,878. It is located in the eastern part of the state and borders Reading to the east and Slippery Rock to the north. The town was founded by settlers from Lancaster County on July 4, 1795. The original name for Ephrata was "Hershey", but this name was changed to "Ephrata" on account of its location near Hershey chocolate factory. The first church services were held at a schoolhouse on Main Street. A post office opened in 1814 and continued until it was discontinued in 1868. The early years of Ephrata's history were difficult due to heavy German immigration which had begun to increase during the War of 1812. By 1830, only about 60% of the population spoke English fluently. However, with help from local farmers and entrepreneurs such as Amos Eaton (the founder of Erie Insurance company), English language speakers slowly began to grow in numbers over time; by 1860 there were more than 200 residents who could speak English well enough to attend public events. In 1865-66 a new school building was built on Second Street; it served as both an elementary and high school until 1959 when it became an annex for nearby Lehighton High School. Throughout its history Ephrata has been known for its agricultural products: apples, potatoes, carrots, celery etcetera have all been major crops here over time. After World War II many manufacturing jobs left town but since then things have slowly started growing again with some new businesses that have arisen like Anheuser Busch Brewery (now Budweiser) and JB Hi-Fi store which are just a few examples among many others that have cropped up over recent years...

Ephrata, Pennsylvania is a town in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 4,853 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Reading, PA-DE-MD Metropolitan Statistical Area. Ephrata was founded in 1784 by George Washington and his family as a small farmstead on the east bank of the Susquehanna River. The first settler in what is now Ephrata was Major John Smith who arrived from Rhode Island in 1785. In 1800 David Duryea came to live near present day Ephrata and built a two story log cabin on his property which still stands today. In 1823 Elijah Harmon erected a three story frame house on this site. This house is currently located within the boundaries of the current town hall building. The original village site lay just north of present day Ephrata where several small coves dot the (now) Susquehanna Riverbank betweenpresent-day Hanover Township and Armstrong Township then eastward to form present Day Armstrong Township before turning south again forming part of present day Luzerne County line In 1827 Nicholas Swartz bought land adjoining Swartz's former home lot for $5 per acre which included most of what is now parts of Armstrong Township and much of what is now Hanover Township Swartz organized a meeting at his home on November 15th, 1827 to petition for township formation therefrom On December 10th, 1827 Samuel Morse donated land comprising almost all that forms today's portion of Hanover Township including present day Ephrata and much later Dayton Borough Morse also donated money towards founding an academy thereon for local children
Ephrata, Pennsylvania is a town in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,851 at the 2010 census. It is the seat of Schuylkill County. The first Europeans to visit what is now Ephrata were French traders and missionaries in 1682 who named the area "New France" after the then-peninsula of New France. The name stuck and was used by the British until 1764 when they renamed it "Schuylkill". In 1784, John Penn founded the College of Philadelphia here with land he had purchased from the Lenape Nation. In 1814, duringthe Mexican–American War, General James Kippenberger's brigade burned down part of Ephrata's courthouse while retreating from Battle of Palo Alto. The post office at Ephrata was established on November 15, 1826 (one day before Delaware) by George Washington Smith with a mail order from President James Kippenberger; it served as an outpost on horseback between Lebanon and Chesterfield counties for several years before becoming a town in 1830. On October 26, 1800, General Anthony Wayne attacked and captured Fort Mifflin while besieging Valley Forge near present-dayReading; this event became known as the Battle of Paoli because General Wayne's troops stopped short at a small stream called Paoli Creek just south of present-day Bethlehem Township when they learned there were friendly Native Americans nearby. Ephrata post office remained open until March 3rd 1909 when letters started being mailed through Reading instead about 10 miles to the east in Allentown due to increased postage rates for rural mail service in that time period. In 1859 Ulysses S Grant visited Schuylkill County during his ill-fated campaign against Stephen Aptheker which led to his ultimate surrender at Appomattox Court House later that year. This made Ephrata one of only two towns in Pennsylvania still within Unionist hands following the war – aside from Lancaster where pro-Union sentiment ran high following Lincoln's victory over Confederate forces at Antietam Ridge – and also one of only two places west of Susquehanna River still under Federal control following Gettysburg’s battle three days earlier (the other being Baltimore). After Union forces withdrew from PA in 1865 all but two military posts remaining loyal to Union were disbanded or abandoned within months including Ephratta’s garrisoned Post Office which closed its doors on July 13th 1865 along with most other government buildings across PA having been relinquished by then according to Order No 5/5(1) issued by Governor Edward Snyder on July 6th 1865 “to enable those men who remain to take possession thereof without any molestation or inconvenience†. Although much property reverted back into private hands throughout PA Following US withdrawal most everything within five miles radius including Post Offices reverted back into private hands excepting for some public square land now used for Agricultural purposes such as Fairmount Park adjacent to current day White Sands Borough (now Scranton)
