On July 3, 1944, Enterprise along with USS Yorktown (CV-8), USS Hornet (CV-9),andUSS Lexington (CV-17) were lost during Operation Neptune's Spear when they were sunk off Okinawa by Japanese aircraft carrier Shōkaku . The Enterprise was reactivated on February 14, 1946 and served until she was decommissioned on October 15, 1988 at Norfolk Naval Shipyard . Today, Emmas continues to be one of the most densely populated areas in central PA; with over half of its residents living within 5 miles of downtown! Today, Emmaus is home to many businesses including two banks (one local and one national), several restaurants/cafes/bars/libraries as well as three high schools (Berks Valley High School, Emmaus Area Senior High School and Downingtown Community College). There are also several smaller businesses that support the town's economy such as farms and repair shops. One popular tradition in town is Holyoke Day Parade which takes place on December 6th each year since 1903. A major event in the towns' calendar is Christmas Parade which begins at 2 p.m., weather permitting, near Main Street square and ends around 4 p.m.? outside First Presbyterian Church where shoppers can buy souvenirs from local vendors before departure for home

Emmaus is a town in Potter County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 2,827 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. Emmaus was founded in 1795 by Anthony Emmons and his wife Sarah. The first post office was established in 1812. Emmaus was incorporated as a borough in 1868. In 1924, it became an unincorporated community within the borough of Armstrongville. The original settlers were farmers and their families who arrived from Easton, Pennsylvania around 1795. They built small log houses on land that they donated to the township of Armstrongville for a public square which they named after their home town of Emmaus, England. The first post office was established at Emmaus on November 3, 1812 under the name "Emmonsburg". In 1868, when Borough of Armstrongville merged with Township of Emmaus to form the new Borough of Emmaus, Anna Janssen became acting mayor until her election as Mayor on November 5th following the death of Mrs. John Calkins (alderman). On December 12th 1865 Isaac Morse became acting mayor for three days due to Mr John Calkins' illness after he had been elected Alderman on October 28th 1865 On April 1st 1870 Anna Fenton replaced Isaac Morse as Acting Mayor and served until May 15th 1870 when she married James Haddonfield who served as Mayor from 1870-1872 and again from 1888-1890 before he died suddenly during his term besides being an assistant attorney general under Grover Cleveland during Reconstruction; James Haddonfield also served as School Superintendent for Allegheny County from 1893-1901; he also refereed a case involving payment by students for services rendered while attending school while absences were allowed
