Easton is a town in Bedford County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 3,838 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Philadelphia–Camden–Wilmington metropolitan area. The township of Easton was established in 1797 and named for John Easton, an early settler. The land that now stands in the town was surveyed by George Washington in 1792 and bought from William Westfall by Colonel James Butler to form part of the boundary between Huntingdon and Bedford Counties. In 1802, a post office called Easton was established and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1837. In 1814, two brothers named Nicholas and Timothy Green set up a tannery on their farm east of town; this became one of the first tanneries in what is nowPhiladelphia. The townsite that now occupies most of eastern Bedford County was laid out as Township 12 miles (19 km) northeast of Easton by order of General David Dixon on October 15, 1800. On March 20th, 1800 Samuel Beall donated 5 acres (20 ha) northwest corner parcel to form what is now downtown Easton with lots numbered 1-3-5 being developed into homes starting about 1840 according to surveyor Robert Ewing’s map which accompanied Volume IX - “Historical Sketches Of Lancaster County” published by Jno Hockaday & Sons Ltd., New York City NY 1886 pages 283-291 An act dated November 10th 1824 created cadastral surveys for all lands within Masonic Hill Township including present day parts of downtownEaston along Second Street from Market Street eastward On September 14th 1830 an act entitled “An act for establishing a ferry across the Delaware River between Easton and Camden”was passed by the Pennsylvania General Assembly By 1830 there were over 500 people living here The first bridge across Delaware River built at this time crossed under High Bridge Road near wherepresent day Bethlehem Steel Plant sits today

Easton is a town in Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 7,895 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Allentown-Reading-Westminster, PA Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded in 1799 by Colonel John Easton and his wife Mary. At first it consisted of just a few scattered houses on the edge of an open meadow surrounded by woods. In 1814, when Easton became a borough, land around the town center were bought from John Dickinson for $27 per acre. The township was created on November 3, 1815 and named for Colonel John Easton's father-in-law George Washington (1745–1824). In 1847, both residents of Easton and Reading voted to change their names to West Pennsylvanian after becoming states within the Union. On December 12 that year, West Pennsylvanian was ratified as the official name of Lehigh County by Pennsylvania state officials without any local input or vote. Today's downtown is home to many businesses including Armour Paper Store which has been in business since before its current location opened in 1907 and First National Bank which started operations in 1865. The two other major businesses are Carpet & Flooring store and Uniglo Inc., both familyowned for more than 50 years now! There are also several restaurants and small shops located throughout the downtown core as well as several churches/mosques!
Easton, Pennsylvania was founded in 1795 by Captain George Easton. The town was named for Captain Easton because of his role in leading a military expedition against the Indians in 1794. The first settler in the area was Nicholas Harnisch, who built the first house on what is now Main Street. The name of the town changed to Easton after it became an incorporated municipality in 1824. In 1828, the town grew to include what is now Westmoreland County and became part of Philadelphia when that city was created from parts of Montgomery and Bucks counties.
