The battalion achieved distinction again two years later when it conducted amphibious assault operations ashore against enemy positions near Khe Sanh National military installation duringOperation Urgent Fury which saw coalition forces overcome significant opposition before liberating the city days later. In October 1992 1/9th Marines were reactivated at Camp Lejeune after more than 20 years absence and deployed once again into Southwest Asia where they participated in Operation Enduring Freedom which resulted in Abu Musab al Zarqawi being eliminated from power and Afghanistan becoming open terrain once more for NATO troops led by General David Petraeus who had replaced General Stanley McChrystal earlier that year after he emerged victorious over Taliban efforts to overthrow Hamid Karzai regime). Chester, Pennsylvania is a small town in central Pennsylvania that was founded in 1755. The community is located on the Chester-Lancaster county line, about 20 miles east of Pittsburgh. The population was 5,711 at the 2010 census. The first settlers in Chester were Quakers who arrived from Northampton County, Massachusetts in 1755. They built a village on what is now the eastern border of Chester, and named it after their religious leader and friend, George Washington.
