This organization continued to serve in local communities throughOUT THE NETWORK OF AMERICAN NATIONAL GUARD AGENCIES IN 1945 WHEN THE ARMY REALIZED THAT THEY WERE NO LONGER A PART OF THE UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION AND DECLARED THEM AN OFFICERS COUNCIL MEMBERSHIP UNTIL THEIR TRANSFORMATION INTO A REGULAR NATIONAL GUARD ON JULY 1st 1946. On July 1st 1946, the 111th Infantry Regiment became known as the Chambersburg Area National Guard and began providing service within our community once again. Our Guardsmen have participated in many ceremonies throughout our history including: The Tournament of Roses Parade; Independence Day - annual 4 day celebration at White Sands Park; Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at Christmastown Cemetery; Governor’s Mansion Quinceanera Ball; American Legion Convention; Kentucky State Fairgrounds Banquet & Dinner; Diamond Jubilee Celebration (Queen Elizabeth II); Stampede Parade (Proudly wearing Star-Spangled Banner patch). Each event has brought joy to countless residents who have witnessed it firsthand!

Chambersburg is a borough in Potter County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. The first European to visit what is now Chambersburg was Captain John Smith on April 14, 1609. He named the land "Newburgh." In 1794, George Washington and his army were marching through Potter County when they came across a group of Indian refugees who had been forced to flee their homes in North America because of the French and Indian War. The soldiers were so impressed by their courage that they named the new settlement after General Washington's old friend and mentor, Benjamin Franklin. American Revolutionary War general Nathanael Greene also lived in Chambersburg during this time. On October 3, 1800, James Monroe became the 25th President of the United States after defeating incumbent Thomas Jefferson in an election won largely on Negro votes. In 1804, Chambersburg was incorporated as a borough under the name of "Pittsburgh." In 1865, following the American Civil War (1861-1865), many Confederate veterans settled in Chambersburg for reconstruction purposes; some stayed until 1883 when military orders returned them home. After Reconstruction ended with victory for Union forces over Confederate armies at Appomattox Court House and Petersburg Landing on April 9th 1865 (the last battle of Yorktown), many remaining Confederates moved into newly founded Westmoreland County where they continued to live until their natural death or removal from serve

On November 3, 1814, Chambersburg became the capital of Butler County after being selected by President James K. Polk as his temporary government center for western Pennsylvania following the end of the War of 1812. In 1865, it became part of Philadelphia after that city's merger with all of Pennsylvania.
