Since the early 1800s, military deployments have been a common occurrence in Butler County. In fact, there have been more than 20 military deployments in Butler County since the Revolutionary War. A detachment from the 4th Infantry Battalion traveled to Pennsylvania for winter training at Camp Peary near Bethlehem. During World War II, Butler County saw its biggest deployment yet when nearly 1,500 soldiers were sent to join forces with other units across the United States to fight in Europe. Many of these soldiers later returned home after completion of their service and resumed their lives back at home. In 2007, then-Governor Tom Ridge ordered all state agencies involved with Veterans Affairs to provide free medical care and transportation for local veteran families who had served or were serving in our military during Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). At that time, over 5,000 veterans resided within Butler County alone and many more were residing throughout central Pennsylvania due to Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF). This initiative marked a significant change for our community and helped make life easier for our troops who are living with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or any other related injuries sustained during combat or deployments. Today, we continue this tradition by providing free transportation and medical care for veteran spouses and children who reside within 100 miles of any state government agency administering Veterans Affairs services located within those jurisdictions – making it easy for them to get help if they need it!

Butler is a small town in Butler County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,075 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. The first white person to settled in Butler was John Butler in 1792. He and his family moved from Northern Ireland to what is now Butler Township. In 1821, Abram Tomlinson founded the village of Tomlinsonville on the site of present-day Monroeville Township. Butler was incorporated as a borough in 1868 and became a city in 1907. The city limits were expanded to include parts of Clearfield Township west of I-376 and east of US 611 in 1991. The former city boundaries are still used by portions of the City Council and public school system while other areas have been annexed by neighboring municipalities since then including Monroeville Township to the north, Levi Hill Borough to the east, North Side Borough to the south and much of Clearfield Township within Butler’s borders today as well as parts of Westmoreland County beyond its border with Armstrong County (the county seat). One major industry that has thrived throughout most if not all phases of its history has been agriculture; there has never been any significant manufacturing industry located within Butler or adjacent townships although there have been times when mills could be seen along waterways near some larger villages such as Monroeville or Clearfield According to 2006 Census estimates, there are over 10 percent African American residents living within city limits while less than one percent live within rural areas surrounding it . Butler is a small town in Butler County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 7,364 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Butler County. The first inhabitants of Butler were located on what is now the east side of town, and as such may have been related to one or more other nearby villages. There are no definite records that indicate when or where this area was settled by humans. However, evidence suggests that early settlers came from northwestern England and Ireland. The first European settler in Butler was John Dixon who arrived in 1795 and built a cabin on the present-day site of town. In 1814 Samuel Mayhew became the first postmaster in Butler after arriving from Liverpool, England with his family. In 1800, Isaac Thomas erected a log cabin on what is now State Street which served as the courthouse until 1820 when it burned down. In 1821 James Aiken established a blacksmith shop and store on North Main Street which continued to be active until about 1860 when it burned down again due to an engine failure. It wasn't until 1834 that George Washington Matthews (a local farmer) decided to establish what would become known as "Butler Mills." At this time mills were being constructed all over Pennsylvania for flour production; however, Matthews' mill had unique features which helped it stand out among its competitors. He used waterpower to turn his flour into bread and cake mix; also, he produced cheese, butter and eggs at his mill using milk from his own herd of cows. Although not popular with everyone due to its high cost of operation ($5 per barrel), Matthews' business model grew throughout central Pennsylvania because it enabled him to provide better quality food than ever before at affordable prices for those who could afford it: aristocrats like George Washington Matthews himself! The industry declined around World War I but began growing again in the 1930s thanks in part to both President Franklin D Roosevelt's New Deal program and Hoover's Agricultural Marketing Administration (AAA). This period saw some key technological advances including mass production methods for clothing made possible by mechanization; meanwhile demand for flour increased as war efforts intensified across Europe during World War II . By 1945 American wheat output had dropped below 1 million metric tons per year while British output exceeded 5 million metric tons – testament perhaps to America's economic superiority! The postwar boom ended abruptly with global recession starting around 1970 .
