Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania is a town in the United States. The population was 26,711 at the 2010 census, making it the 11th largest town in Pennsylvania. It is located in Centre County. The present-day Bloomsburg was first settled by Europeans in the 17th century. In 1811, John Forbes purchased 1,000 acres (400 hectares) of land west of where Bloomsburg now stands from General James Dunmore and organized a township to provide for its residents. On March 15, 1814, Forbes presented a petition to the United States Congress advocating for incorporation as a village with voting rights and distinction from other towns in Centre County; on May 12 of that year, Congress passed an act incorporating Bloomsburg as a village with these rights and chose Jno. Witherspoon to be its first mayor. Witherspoon's successors served until 1909 when they were replaced by George Pappas and Harry Acheson respectively. In 1850, because of increased population growth along the Susquehanna River Valley due to railroad development and new trades such as manufacturing and agriculture being developed thereabouts (the area then being called "the Valley"), efforts began to find an appropriate location for Bloomsburg proper on what is now known as McCloy Street between Second Street and Third Street - this would eventually become what we call Main Street today - but no suitable spot could be found until finally property on which present day Bloomsburg sits was taken over by James Dunmore Jr., Sr.'s heirs in 1892 after he had died childless without any children who might inherit his lands or business interests therein (he had been born into poverty). That same year also saw construction of what is still serving as one of downtown Bloomsburg's most iconic landmarks: Dunmore's Tower - built on land donated by him following his purchase of the original 2-story stone courthouse building erected near where Main Street meets McCloy back in 1811/12 which had previously been used as storage for local textile mills owned by his father-in-law Colonel Moses Brownell (of Brownells Hull Brewery fame), this structure remains one of downtown's most recognizable features today well into the 21st century despite both it having seen many alterations throughout its history including being rebuilt twice since – once during World War II due to damage caused by bombing raids conducted against nearby Philadelphia during that time period and again shortly thereafter following major renovations designed principally around creating more spacious living spaces inside while preserving much or all of its historical significance including demolishing much old brick exterior architecture associated with it). As part as part thereof continuing Downtown redevelopment efforts currently under way - see below entitled "Downtown Bloomsbergsome" - main streets Southeast Fifth Avenue Northeast Seventh Avenue Northwest First Street have also been renamed McCloy Boulevard thenceforth reflecting their initial designation except Southwest Fourth Avenue which has reverted back to Second Streetsurrounding clockwise from east side thereof within city limits since 1996 although various shorter ones still continue officiallydesignated accordingly including I-95 just outside city limits proper although access thereto is only possible via exit number 20 off I-95 about 5 miles northwest thereof) overall businesses located within easy reach within city limits proper via Shortest path leading from center onto main street(s) Spur streetsrunning north/south connecting various parts occupied herein viz: East Side West Side North Side South Side formerly known simply as streets running northerly/southwesterly intersecting each other just east of downtown core however some portions i.e.: East Side West Side NorthSideSouthSide now contain several large apartment buildings dwellings situated therein typically forming blocks etc.) Within boundaries established hereinabove cities are forever free To make changes / updates etc., see website describedbelow www.bloomsburgpa.gov

Bloomsburg is a town in Berks County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 9,994 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Reading city-county government. Bloomsburg is located on the Susquehanna River and is bordered by Reading to the east, Williamsport to the north, and Moon Township to the west. The first settler in what would become Bloomsburg was John Jameson in 1784. He created a small farmstead on a branch of the Susquehanna River near present-day Ulysses S. Grant Boulevard and Front Street. In 1811, Jameson's son George Christopher built a log cabin on land that became part of what is now Bloomsburg Township. The borough seat moved from Jameson's cabin to what is now its current location in 1875 after it was annexed by Reading. In 1870, Abraham Lincoln visited what would become Bloomsburg while he was campaigning for president; he stopped at Jameson's Cabin and then took an early morning train back home via Philadelphia to Harrisburg before continuing his campaign route through Bucks County In 1876, whenReading adopted its own charter, it included Bloomstown as one of its original townships. By 1893, however, Bloomstown had merged with nearby Williamsport into what would become Reading Borough). In 1907 there were 2 schools inBloomstown (the old Schoolhouse Lane school closed around this time), but they merged into one school district which still operates today as Central York High School (then called Northampton Intermediate) in neighboring Moon Township In 1915–16 there were 3 schools inBloomstown (Central York High School; Southwick Elementary; East Market Elementary), but they all merged into one district which also operated today as Bethlehem-Easton Alternative Education District (formerly known as West Monroe Middle/High School). According to the 2000 US Census there are 10 residents ofBloomsburg who identify as "Latino". As of 2009 these residents make up 1% of Bloomburgh’s total population . Latinos made up 7% of Berks County’s population according to 2000 census data while “non-Hispanic whites” constituted 96% of Berks County’s population according to that same census data
