National Guard gifts have been a part of the Woodburn community for over thirty years. The National Guard has come to play an important role in our town, and its members have made a lasting impression on the people of Woodburn. Some of the most famous national guard gifts from Woodburn include a flagpole and flyer, a training helicopter, and even a state trooper helicopter. The first National Guard unit to arrive in Woodburn was Battery D of the Oregon Volunteer Infantry Regiment on September 9th, 1941. This unit was soon followed by Battery A on October 15th. These units were among the very first units to serve in World War II as part of Patton’s First Army. Many local residents volunteered for service in this war effort and it is easy to see why the National Guard has such a long history in Woodburn. Today, there are more than 1,500 members of the Oregon National Guard serving throughout Oregon. This number reflects both our country’s growing military presence overseas as well as our commitment to public safety at home. From border patrols to search and rescues, members of the Oregon National Guard are constantly working to keep our communities safe.

The Woodburn National Guard was organized on July 1, 1889. It was the third national guard unit in Oregon. The first unit was organized on December 12, 1886 by Colonel John C. Fremont and Captain Samuel A. Harmon in response to the Panic of 1887.
The town of Woodburn, Oregon is located in the Rogue Valley of Oregon. It was founded by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1847 and has since been a center for LDS activity. The town has a population of over 30,000 people and is home to several businesses, including three banks and four health care clinics. In addition to its economic significance, Woodburn also forms part of the Rogue Valley National Forest and offers various outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, fishing and skiing.
The National Guard has been around in the United States for over 175 years. It is one of the oldest and most important pieces of American society. The Guard was originally created to provide a reserve force for the defense of the country. Today, it continues to play an important role in our society and provides citizens with access to essential services during times of emergency. Some of the earliest examples of National Guard gifts can be found from 1812 when Massachusetts Governor Elihu Eldredge ordered all state militias to be equipped with cannons and muskets. The first national guard unit was raised in New York on November 11, 1814. In response to financial difficulties brought on by war, President James K. Polk authorized $5 million for the purchase of rifles and artillery across America between February 1st and May 15th, 1845. This was only half way through the national guard’s total budget which totaled $20 million that year. In 1917, Congress passed legislation authorizing memberships in local militia organizations which could be used “for duty upon any part or parts of this country” when called into service by President Wilson as a result of World War I hysteria. As a result, people across America began donating their time and resources to local units made up primarily Of African Americans who were then drafted into military service before being allowed back home after hostilities ended two years later (note: black soldiers did not serve in combat). This event is often referred to as “The First Step Toward Civil Rights” because it gave Negroes easy access to arms which they would use against their own Ku Klux Klan-affiliated white counterparts during this turbulent time period (see also: Black Troops In World War II). During World War II, many Americans donated their time and resources towards creating both racial diversity within units as well as providing logistical support needed for troops fighting overseas (e.g., Army Air Forces; Navy; Coast Guards). Gifts totaling more than $2 billion were given out between 1941-1945 alone! During this time frame there were also countless donations made specifically towards patriotic items such as flags, medals, buttons, ink wells etc., some dating back decades old! Many individuals have come forward claiming that these types of donations played an integral role in helping shape US culture today (e.g.: Star-Spangled Banner flyovers at sporting events; George Washington Carver's 100 acre farm donation). There are now entire communities throughout America named after specific donors or items associated with them such as Mount Rushmore National Monument or Arlington Cemetery where veterans can visit everyday!

The Guard has played an important role in American history and culture.
Woodburn, Oregon is located in the Willamette Valley of Oregon and was founded by George Washington in 1847. The town was named after General John Woodburn who fought in the Mexican-American War. The first post office was established in Woodburn on July 1, 1849. In 1855, the town became a center for irrigation and agriculture due to its location on the Willamette River. By 1865, Woodburn had a population of 2,000 people and began to become an agricultural center with large acreage irrigated through canals. The city of Woodburn was incorporated on April 14, 1909. In 1932, the city merged with nearby La Grande to form a larger city with a population of over 100,000 people. The history of Woodburn can be traced back to when it was founded by George Washington as part of his plan for a new settlement along the then- undiscovered Oregon Trail. At that time, there were only about twenty families living in what is now known as Wood Burnett County. On July 1st , 1849 George Washington's first post office opened at what is now called "The Brick House." From this point forward until 1910 when it merged into La Grande City Limits (later renamed Bend), Wood Burnett County saw steady growth thanks to goods brought by wagon trains overland from Fort Bridger down the Snake River route or via steamboats upriver from Portland or Salem. This growth continued until World War II when many workers left due to wartime shortages; however production did not slacken off until war ended and most industry returned home soon afterwards). In 1909 there were only 2200 residents within city limits while La Grande City Limits had around 10000 citizens; however during World War II both cities merged together becoming one larger municipality with over 100K residents today! One interesting note about this merger is that although they share same boundaries today (city limits/municipality), at that time they were two different towns - La Grande City Limits being closer to Portland while Watertown would have been further east near Lake Oswegoia(now Everett)). After WWII much development took place within both cities including high rise buildings such as “The Brick House” which still stands today inside city limits – almost unchanged since its construction in 1889! Other notable landmarks during this time include: Storrs Hall which served as county courthouse from 1905-1910 and later became downtown La Grande’s library; Mount Hood Elementary School which opened September 6th 1902; also located downtownLa Grande was Wapato Dam spillway completed December 1923 which allowed flood control across river basin for area including much of west central Oregon; Northwest Copper Ore Mine closed operations in 1962 leaving few remnants remaining today but providing insights into early 20th century copper mining operations in NW corner US
The town of Woodburn was founded in 1859 by John and Anna Woodward. The town grew rapidly, becoming a center for commerce and culture. In 1925, the state of Oregon designated Woodburn as the county seat of Clackamas County.
