The first soldiers to come to Wilsonville were the U.S. Cavalry and they brought cannons and other supplies with them. In 1853, a group of men from Portland founded the Oregon Agricultural Society and decided to set up a farm in what is now known as Western Oregon. They bought some land east of Portland and started growing wheat, barley, corn, and other crops. This new society was called the Western Oregon Agricultural Company and it became one of the leading organizations in early American agriculture. In 1892, Wilsonville was renamed for General John Custer during his visit to Oregon as part of President Grover Cleveland’s official tour of America. This event helped solidify Wilsonville’s reputation as a center for military gifts because General Custer was famous for his battle victories at Little Bighorn and Overthrow Creek. Wilsonville, Oregon is a small town located in the Snake River Valley of west-central Oregon. The population was 2,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Deschutes County government and has a library, post office, and several businesses. The first people to live in Wilsonville were the Klondike gold seekers who discovered gold near present day Wilsonville on November 26, 1876. In 1907, Wilsonville incorporated as a town. The name "Wilsonville" was chosen because it was one of three towns that had been suggested to provide an Adventurer's Rest campground on the Salmon River. According to legend, when Josephine Hendrickson set out from Portland with her wagonload of supplies for her fur- trading business at Fort Hall in 1909 she passed through Wilsonville on her way back to Bendigo. When she asked the storekeeper where she could find lodging for the night he directed her to a cabin belonging to Geo Fenton which he described as being "just outside [the] bounds of this place". This story may be based on historical fact since there are no current boundaries between Wilsonville and other nearby towns such as Bendigo or Grants Pass. In 1916, during World War I, American soldiers serving in Europe established Camp Evans south of present day Wilsonville while they awaited orders from home concerning their deployment into battle overseas. Camp Evans continued operations until 1918 when it closed due to overpopulation and lack of available space within US military camps across France and Belgium (Operation Anvil). During World War II many patriotic Americans decided that living near Lake Oswego would be more convenient than staying away from combat zones due to its proximity to Seattle and Vancouver Island; thus Camp Evans reopened in 1945 as an Army Basecamp known as WACO (Washingtons Air Force Command Outpost). After 9/11 many residents decided that moving closer still wasn't safe so they relocated their homes eastward into Deschutes County just outside city limits; however this relocation also failed due to lack of land availability along with problems with water usage following construction projects underway within city limits including new light rail lines which had disrupted access by residents living east of I-5 including much of downtown mentioned earlier Today most people who call Wilsonville home either work or attend school here rather then leave for hours each day traveling 3 hours away only for another hour or so drive down Interstate 5 before returning home again . With all these things going on it can be hard not too feel connected but overall we are very close knit community here . We support each other no matter what

Wilsonville is a town in Oregon, located about 30 miles north of Portland on the Simi River. The name comes from Wilson, a settler who arrived in 1847. The first store in what is now Wilsonville was built by J.F.Baker and brothers George and John Potter in 1868. In 1907, the first post office was established here, and the town developed rapidly as a bedroom community for Portland's wealthier citizens. However, by the late 1920s Wilsonville had begun to lose its appeal as a bedroom community as well as its role as an agricultural center due to development aroundPortland's new airport. However, over the last few decades much has been done to keep Wilsonville alive and vibrant - including the establishment of an arts district which includes several galleries and theaters; a downtown that includes several restaurants, bars and nightlife; and new housing developments that continue to attract residents and make Wilsonville one of the most popular places to live in Oregon.

It declined during World War II due to increased military activity in nearby Portland but regained some of its stature following the war. Afterward, Wilsonville experienced rapid growth with new development coming up around downtown and on North Street. The city reached its peak population size by 1960 with over 10,000 residents. However, economic decline followed throughout the 1970s until 1990 when economic expansion returned and current population levels are above 12,000 people
