Wilsonville is a small town in Wilson County, Oregon, United States. The population was 2,569 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Portland metropolitan area. For many years coffee was roasted and sold only in nearby Arlington or Grants Pass. In 1912, Winton Coffee Company began roasting coffee here and selling it from a small storefront on Fourth Street. In 1949, the company moved to its current location on First Avenue West and grew rapidly into one of Oregon's largest coffee companies. At its peak in the late 1990s, Winton Coffee had over 70 employees and sales operations across Oregon, Washington and Nevada totaling $30 million annually. Today, Winton Coffee operates out of a single store in Wilsonville with ten employees and annual sales of $2 million

Wilsonville is a small town in the Willamette Valley of Oregon, United States. It lies on the north bank of the Rogue River, about 25 miles (40 km) east of Salem and 50 miles (80 km) south of Eugene. The population was 5,070 at the 2010 census. The first coffee beans were roasted in 1847 by John Wesley Powell and his partners while they were exploring the Upper Missouri River region. The name Wilsonville likely comes from one of Powell's companions, Wm. Hutton, who called himself "Winevil" because he so drank. In 1865, two soldiers from Fort Lapham took over an adobe house in what is now Wilsonville and began roasting coffee for local merchants and military personnel. In 1876, George Hearn established a sawmill at what is now Hearn Road near present-day Wilsonville to supply lumber companies with fresh fruit trees for packaging and shipping. By 1886, Hearn had built a gristmill that became one of the largest in Oregon; it still processes woodchips into flour today. In 1897–98, Michael Fenton purchased some rights to Wilsonville's water supply from Major General George Armstrong Custer during their campaign to gain control of the entire Treaty Of Arraignment Basin area west of Interstate 5 between Portland and Vancouver—a region then known as including much of present-day Wilsonville—through force or persuasion rather than diplomacy or negotiation.
