A few months later on December 3rd (2007), another woman by the name of Melissa Anderson contributed an AK-47 assault rifle to join Holmberg’s donation! Tualatin, Oregon is a city in Oregon that was founded by the Lewis and Clark Expedition on July 24, 1847. The village was named after the Mexican state of Tlalpan. The town became an Post Office in 1850, and it had its first school in 1854. In 1907, the city moved to its current location at the junction of Interstate 5 and U.S. Route 97. The Lewis and Clark Expedition passed through Tualatin on their way from Portland to Mount Hood in September 1846 while exploring what is now Oregon Territory. On July 24, 1847, they established Camp Floyd near modern-day Tualatin; it would be their last stop before reaching Mount Hood. When they returned to Portland on September 26th, they had covered an total distance of 301 miles (483 kilometers). In 1850, postmasters John Caulfield and George Hill were appointed to serve as deputies for Lewis County under Governor Isaac Aspinwall's orders following the organization of Oregon Territory following California's admission into the United States as a free country on January 12th, 1850. They served until March 4th when John Caulfield resigned due to illness and Henry Higginson took his place effectiveMarch 5th. On February 26th aboriginals attacked three white men traveling through central Gascoyne County near present-day Albany; two were killed and one captured; he name is still unknown today but likely means "warrior." This event helped catalyze a series of anti-aboriginal violence outbreaks throughout central Oregon over the next few years which would culminate with General George Armstrong Custer's disastrous expedition into Indian Country in 1892 known as The Campaign around Willamette River Canyon
