In 1922, when municipal water supplies finally became available enough to support a commercial industry, Tualatin's Coffee Merchants Association set up a water supply company which continues today as one of the city's most important economic engines. This period also saw great advancements in technology which allowed for better milling techniques and increased yields from beans grown under irrigation systems. Today well-known brands such as Starbucks and Third Place continue to source their cups from this site within minutes of opening! During World War II, many residents relocated outside the city limits due to fear of bombing raids or rationing that affected food items like coffee. As a result, much-needed jobs moved into the area including factory workers who refurbished factories that had been destroyed by war damage or fire (the first KFC). In 1975, Turkish Coffee Corporation opened its first U.S.-based café – Aksaray – which quickly became a regional favorite due to its delicious Turkish coffees and exquisite ambiance
