Tualatin, Oregon is a small city located in Multnomah County, Oregon. The population was 7,906 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Multnomah County. The city has a rich history dating back to 1871 when it was founded as an agricultural town on the banks of the Willamette River by farmers and lumbermen looking for new land to farm. Today Tualatin is an important center for technology and business, with many companies headquartered in its downtown area. The cityscape of Tualatin features wide lanes that run perpendicular to each other, deepwater channels leading to lakeside communities and a series of hills that rise abruptly from the river valley. Many tall trees provide natural cover in summertime whilekiing or snowshoeing around the city's neighborhoods. In 1951, Congress passed legislation authorizingOGL (the Office of General Lending) to provide grants directly toward purchase of naval vessels and equipment for use by member agencies on U.S coastsguard missions worldwide. This program continues today with support from Departmentof Defense appropriations funds The modern Coast Guard gift history can be traced back to 1978 when Executive Order 13423 was issued which designated “Coast Guard Day” within National Police Week celebration period This order established that Christmas would not be celebrated by the Coast Guard but rather during National Police Week which coincided with Easter weekend The present day Coast Guardsmen are dedicated individuals who work tirelessly every day keeping our nation's coastline safe It is through their efforts that we are able to maintain our country's connections with friends and family around the world
The Coast Guard gift history goes back to 1898 when the first coast guard cutter, launched from the New York Navy Yard, was christened "Gift" in honor of then-Secretary of War John Sherman. The Cutter continued to be named in honor of various members of Congress and other government officials until it was decommissioned on Nov. 30, 1984, after serving over 50 years.
Tualatin, Oregon is a city located in the Willamette Valley of Oregon, United States. The population was 26,775 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Columbia County and home to Tualatin College. The first Europeans to explore what is now Tualatin were French explorers in 1795-96. They named it Point de la Motte and reported finding an forks of the Willamette River here. The area was explored by John McLoughlin in 1802 and he called the area "Tualatin". On July 3, 1853, Ulysses S. Grant's army reached Portland and entered into this region as part of their march across America under General Lew Wallace's orders. He had been ordered to march west from Portland through what is now Washington County and enter into Oregon Territory on June 30th. Oregon Territory would be divided into three parts on July 3rd: The Columbia District (now Tillamook), Multnomah County (now Polk County), and Clackamas County (now Multnomah). Grants were given to various people within each district for land sales that started on July 2nd: $5 per acre for those in Grants District; $10 per acre for those in Multnomah; $15 per acre for those in Clackamas;$30 peracre for anyone outside of any districts boundaries on July 1st. In 1855 Congress passed legislation creating Klondike Gold Rush counties which would have included parts of present-day Oregon including Tualatin/Columbia Counties In 1865 when gold was discovered at Fort Hall nearmodern day Eugene, Ore., one half million dollars was offered for a claims certificate from USGS Surveyor George Vancouver but no one claimed it because there wasn't enough gold found to warrant such a feeback system! This led to the so-called 'Gold Rush' where miners took up prospecting throughout most of what is now Oregon On October 15th, 1868 Colonel John Atherton set off downriver from Fort Hall with 10 men under his command seeking yellowstone coal deposits along the way known today as Atherton Gulch .They encountered Rocky Mountain scenery before reaching an Echo Creek about 8 miles below modern day Union Gap On November 5th they struck oil shale near present day White Rock Springs after striking some natural gas associated with another coal seam only 3 miles upstream
Tualatin was founded in 1868 as a small town on the banks of the Willamette River. The town grew rapidly and by 1887, it had become the largest city in Oregon. Tualatin became an important industrial center during the late 19th century, with a growing number of businesses producing goods such as textiles, grocery stores, and lumber. In 1906, Tualatin was renamed Portland after then-Governor John Peter Aldrich announced his decision to move Oregon's capital from Salem to Portland.
