Troutdale, Oregon is a small city located in the Willamette Valley of Oregon. The population was 11,813 at the 2010 census and it is the fifteenth largest city in Oregon. Troutdale is named after General Joseph Trout who fought in the Civil War and later served as a U.S. Senator from Oregon. The town was founded in 1887 by settlers who came from British Columbia. The first businesses to open in Troutdale were general store, restaurant, and telephone service. By 1904, there were also two schools and a post office. In 1915, troutdale had a population of 22 and four churches; one Baptist and three Roman Catholic. In 1960, Troutdale had an estimated population of 9,000 people and began to experience growth due to its location near the University of Portland and its manufacturing base for Northwest Industries Incorporated products including aircraft parts and tires. After years of decline throughout the late 1990s through 2000s due to heavy investment by Microsoft Corporation (later known as Microsoft Windows), several businesses reopened including a Subway sandwich shop which closed in 2006 but reopened under new ownership later that year; a physical therapy clinic which opened in 2009; and a gas station which opened in 2010 - all within minutes of each other on SE Hawthorne Boulevard across from Fishtown Park District #2 & SE Thurston High Schoolhouse Site #1

Troutdale is located in the Roseburg-Wilson County area of Oregon. The town was founded by early settlers in 1885 and became a community after a post office was established in 1886. In 1912, troutdale middle school opened and became known as one of the most successful public schools in Oregon. It closed in 1976 but reopened as Troutdale High School later that year. In 1923, a dam was constructed to provide water for local farmers and also used for irrigation purposes. The dam remains an important part of Troutdale's history and culture today. The dam also served as a model for other municipal water systems throughout Oregon. The population of Troutdale increased rapidly during World War II due to the war effort and economic growth within the community. A post office was established at Troutdale in 1945, and it continued to serve until it closedmailing operationsin 1990. The last mail delivery took place on July 15, 1990. Today, Troutdale is home to several businesses including two grocery stores, three restaurants, two banks, five shops/stores, two churches/temples, a daycare center., an elementary school (grades K-12), an intermediate school (grades 9-12), and two high schools (grades 11-12).
