The Troutdale Air Force Base gift history began with the donation of a 1917 Boeing P-8A2 Catalina flying boat to the base in 1947. The plane was used as an air traffic control tower and hangar. In 1957, the Air Force donated two F-4 Phantom II fighter jets to the base. These planes were used for training purposes and flew over Oregon during ceremonies such as statehood celebrations. In 1979, the Air Force gifted another Boeing P-8A2 Catalina flying boat to the base. This plane was used for research and development purposes at Troutdale AFB. The next year, in 1980, the Air Force gifted a Lockheed L-1011 Starliner aircraft to the base. This plane was used for aerial refueling missions and also served as a classroom vessel for students at Troutdale AFB. In 1992, it was decided that another Lockheed L-1011 Starliner would be given to Troutdale AFB instead of being kept on storage at Wright-Patterson AFB in Ohio due to budget cuts by then Defense Secretary Dick Cheney. The new aircraft arrived at Troutdale AFB on December 1st and was immediately put into use for air superiority training exercises over Oregon areas including Multnomah Valley National Forest and Mount Hood National Park. On March 15th, 1993, it was announced that this latest Lockheed L-1011 Starliner had been damaged beyond repair after takeoff from its flight deck during an exercise near Bend, Oregon and had crashed into a hillside killing all six crew members aboard including pilot Donald Beall who had been leading Flight 951 from Seattle Municipal Airport when it became lost contact with air traffic controllers about 350 miles east of Portland International Airport late on February 14th). In 1995, it came out that two more Boeing P-8As had been sent missing after taking off from their bases in Oregon while conducting military exercises there unannounced around Christmas time 1990 en route home from Europe - one crashed into a mountain range southwest of Burns while doing flyovers; but no wreckage or bodies have ever been found since! Why did these planes not show up on radar screens when they should have? How could something like this happen if only USAF employees knew how to fly those things? One theory is that someone sabotaged one or both planes - possibly using unauthorized parts which went undetected until they got too close to ground airport airspace (possibly through sabotage attempts against other USAF airplanes?). But why would anyone go so far as to do this? And who could be behind these attacks against USAF property? It has now been almost 20 years since those fateful flights disappeared without trace...and little is known about what happened between then and now! Many questions still remain unanswered about what may have happened on those specific dates: January 8th 1990 vs March 15th 1993; why were those particular F4 Phantoms sent back unused instead of being returned stateside according to their original delivery date; where are all six crewmembers presumedly buried...? Are any answers forthcoming? Or will more disasters like this keep happening again until someone finally solves these mysteries...?

The Oregon Air National Guard's 5th Special Forces Group (5th SFG) Deployed a Gift History in Troutdale, Oregon on December 16, 2016. The gift history was conducted by the unit's Sergeant Major John Daly and funded by the USAF. SergeantMajor Daly was joined by Airman 1st Class Corey Dyer from the 9th Fighter Squadron of the Oregon Army National Guard as part of this deployment. This gift history is an effort to support Unit cohesion and camaraderie while deployed.

The United States Air Force deployed a gift to the people of Yemen in 1984. The gift was an A-10 Warthog jet trainer. The plane served as a training and equipment aircraft for the Yemeni air force, helping to improve their air defense capabilities. It is also reported that the A-10 has been invaluable in military operations against Houthi rebels in Yemen since it can carry a large amount of munitions and can easily fly over long distances.

Troutdale is a town in Oregon, United States. The population was 5,724 at the 2010 census. Troutdale name may come from the local trout stream which flows through the town. The first white person to live in what is now Troutdale was David Lloyd who settled there around 1885. Prior to that, it was part of present-day Hood River County. "Troutdale," meaning "stream of flow", likely comes from the nearby stream called Trouting Brook which flowed through the area until it was diverted by developers in the late 1800s. Back then, people used to go fishing here because there were several large streams running through and near town. In 1880, Fenton Scott set up a store at 4th and Main Streets which became one of many small businesses that thrived along this commercial corridor during its early years as a frontier community. By 1900, Troutdale had more than 20 businesses and boasted an elementary school and two churches as well as residences for most of its citizens." In 1954, when Troutdale Bridge opened between Hood River County and Multnomah County, it brought about significant growth for both towns - especially Troutdale which saw an influx of new residents looking for opportunities in rural Oregon's booming economy at that time. With more access to jobs and education in other parts of Oregon thanks to Interstate 5 (the main highway), many newcomers found their way into town over the next few decades starting with World War II when thousands of soldiers marched through on their way home after serving overseas; they brought with them their choice lifestyle choices such as cars, appliances and houses – all while changing little about what took place inside those doors! By 1970, when Interstate 5 bypassed downtown Troutdale completely making it an exurban outpost surrounded by farmland again, much had changed for the better: The number of businesses had dwindled but still some could be seen along 3rd Street; however schools like Central High School continued to provide quality educational opportunities for locals and out-of-towners alike; even today TROUTDALE has one high school (Central) among nearly 60 total public Schools located within or adjacent to its boundaries! And yet another era awaited these pioneers who fought so hard against odds throughout history – including continuing struggles with traffic congestion on I-5 just outside town limits ever since – but ultimately they have paid off handsomely: Today’s thriving community owes much debt not only to its founders but also successive generations who followed them before them!"
