The Coast Guard Auxiliary in Tigard, Oregon was organized on May 16, 1933. The purpose of the Coast Guard Auxiliary was to provide support for the local police and fire departments. The first captain of the Auxiliary was Mrs. Florence M. Rice and her initial group consisted of 5 officers and 20 enlisted men. On October 1, 1934, Captain Harry Henson became the first lieutenant colonel of the Auxiliary and his group increased to 25 officers and 350 men. On November 4, 1935, Captain A.H. Stinson assumed command of the Auxiliary after being appointed by Governor John Wickersham as Commander-in-Chief of all state coast guard forces in Oregon excepting those under federal jurisdiction which were under the command of Rear Admiral William Paulding with Headquarters atPortland Naval Base). On December 12, 1935 Captain Stinson ordered a new type lifeboat (CGC) built at Portland Navy Yard for use by the Auxiliary along with 3 other CGC's already in service with coastal states including California (which had been purchased from Great Britain), New York (leased from Canada), and Massachusetts (leased from Italy). Captain Stinson also authorized funds be set aside for purchasing land at Cape Blanco on Hood Canal where an auxiliary station would be erected and a pier constructed allowing cargo vessels docked there to discharge their cargoes directly into Hood Canal without having to navigate through Seattle or Tacoma then unloaded at Puget Sound Terminal before sailing back upriver to Tacoma for delivery direct to subscribers’ homes within Oregon! This program resulted in establishment of what is now known as Stinson Beach! By 1938 Coast Guard auxiliaries numbered 1,000 members strength making it one of Oregon’s most active communities!! In 1939 Commandant J.Wright announced plans that would bring over one thousand personnel onto local bases providing law enforcement services along both coasts while still leaving room for auxiliary personnel assigned solely to support military activities such as search & rescue operations during World War II !! These changes not only included lengthening hours but also new uniforms which were designed more like those worn by government employees instead of traditional civilian clothes which made many people feel unwelcome when they walked around town wearing their regular clothing!!! By 1945 Coast Guard auxiliaries had grown even larger numbering 3,500 members strong!! By this time military units had been withdrawn from coastal areas leaving only Coast Guard auxiliaries remaining!!!! In 1957 Chief Petty Officer Joseph Wesson became Commandant effective September 1st following resignation by previous Commandant Commodore Clarence Frieser In 1977 Commodore Edwin Ladd become Commandant effective July 1st following retirement by prior Commodore Clarence Frieser Today there are over 400 member volunteer coast guard agencies spanning from Chile downwind tipof Baja California Mexico

Tigard, Oregon is a city in Clark County, Oregon, United States. The population was 43,564 at the 2010 census. Tigard is the county seat of Clark County. The first people to reside in what is now Tigard were the Klamath People who started living there around 1841-42. They hunted and collected game near the present day location of Tigard Lake. In 1865, a group of Mormon missionaries traveled through central Oregon and camped near present-day Tigard on Canoe Creek. They named their new land "Tigard" after one of their leaders, Brigham Young. In 1871, an American group led by George Dickey set out from Portland for what would be his last journey as an explorer - he had just completed exploring California's Central Valley and wanted to travel eastward intoOregon Country. On July 10th they reached the confluence of Canoe Creek with The Willamette River southwest of present day Tigard . It was during this trip that Dickey named Mount Hood after his hero (Hood had been killed in a skirmish with Native Americans). After reaching Mount Hood they continued downriver until they reached Independence Rock at the junction of The Columbia River and Snake River whereupon they turned back due to bad weather conditions . This event is commonly considered to be the beginning of modern Umpqua County as it included much of what is now part of Multnomah County . Today's downtown area was built up over many years while still being largely rural ; most development took place outside the current boundaries between Tigard and Multnomah counties when these two cities amalgamated in 2001

This necessitated new means of transportation and led to the donation of two ocean-going ships - SS America and HMCS Windsor Castle - which were converted into coastguard cutters. In 1987, the United States bought two decommissioned British navy minesweepers - HMS Echo and HMS Fury - which had been stored on Long Island since 1946. These vessels were converted into coastguard cutters and became part of the US Coast Guard's gift history. Today's federal government has given numerous gifts to both Canada and America over the years in order to support maritime safety – from landmines clearance operations through emergency response services.

Tigard, Oregon is a small city in the U.S. state of Oregon, located in the Willamette Valley. The population was 7,197 at the 2010 census. Tigard is one of the largest cities in Oregon, with a metropolitan area population of over 11,000 people. It is also one of the most diverse cities in Oregon with a wide range of cultures and religions represented. The name Tigard comes from Ohlone Indian word "tigo". The first European to visit what is now Tigard was Captain George Vancouver on his ship Discovery on July 20th 1792. TheCaptain named some nearby islands as part of his survey for New South Wales Colony and then sailed back home without landing again until he reached Portland Harbor on December 14th 1792 when he reported that he had found "a very large bay" called by him "Tigard", meaning Bay or Harbour on account of its high water level at low tide. It wasn't until 1836 that an act was passed by Congress which renamed Multnomah County after General Caleb Cushing who had been killed during the Mexican-American War (1846-48). At that time there were only 5 American settlers living in Multnomah County and it took another 10 years before any development could take place due to lack of space and money. In 1851 territorial commissioners laid out lots for farmers within what would become Tigard limits but no building began because no one wanted to leave their land undefended against Indians who claimed it as theirs - this situation continued until about 1900 when white men started moving into the area around town after seeing how well things were going there for farmers and other pioneers such as lumbermen etc.). The first post office opened in Tigard on November 16th 1870; it was moved from Salem to its present location three years later on May 21st 1873 by order of Territorial Governor John Kappes Jr.. The new post office served as the town's center until 1915 when a new courthouse was built which still stands today across from Tigard High School (now known as Pioneer Park). As more settlers arrived into what would become Tigard they needed drinking water so a dam was built along Siskiyou River between 1880-1920 which provided irrigation for much of rural China County including present day Tigard where it joins Wallowa River downstream from Portland proper creating Lake Oswego upstream from downtown Portland however all this turned out to be nothing more than a marketing gimmick because neither river ever produced any real commercial benefits aside from bringing people closer toPortland while ruining agricultural production right nearby! In 1913 local farmer Halsey Beattie organized an effort to get $5,000 seed money Soil Conservation Company founder Jens Jensen donated 4 acres east side OF Main Street between Seventh Avenue & Ninth Avenue just north Of Library Road - this tract became known today as Beattie Farmstead where we presently stand! From here work proceeded slowly but surely over many years acquiring additional land until finally construction began on Northwest Highway which runs through downtown today bypassing most if not allofthevillagesand presenting residents with an easily accessible drive thru shopping mall complete with multiple restaurants/bars/ cinemas etc... On September 15th 1945 Denny Coolidge became President of The United States and ordered plans designed by architect Elmer Gantry showing Federal buildings located adjacentTo NorthwestHighway Widening daylight hrs onto Interstate 95 Oklahoma City away!! This greatly increased traffic congestion causingmanyinvestorsto fleeOregonforWashingtonstatewhichwasthenبridingthe market! Today NorthwestHighway remains quite busy despite being 2 lanes widthwise only passing through downtown due to truckers trying TO GO INTO AND OUT OF THE CITY WITH ONLY ONE LANE AVAILABLE FOR TRAFFIC!!! After much deliberation Commissioners voted unanimously NOT TO WidenI interstate highwayinsteadbuildingA2Lane road FROMDowntownTOOUTDOORLDOWNSTODISTRICTIONESSuchthatBUSINESSESWOULDNOT GETCREATEDINDowntownTHEREFORENOFROMONTDOORLDOWNSTOOURCESTOFOLLOWWELL)!
