In December of 1887, a Latter-day Saint named Joseph Smith was living in the small town of Brantley, Missouri. He had been baptized by Brigham Young and was soon called to preach to the people there. In January of 1888, he traveled to St. Helens, Oregon, and soon started preaching the gospel there. Many people were converted to Mormonism at this time because it seemed like an purer religion than other faiths. St. Helens quickly became known as a center for Mormon missionary work. In 1888 alone, over 100 missionaries were sent here to preach the gospel to the local natives. The Saints also built a chapel and established several schools in St. Helens during this time. The Church grew rapidly in St. Helens during these years and many new converts were baptized here into the LDS faith (although some did not become full members until after they had left Saint Helens). The population of St. Helens reached 5,000 by 1890; however, due toydia pandemic that year, the number decreased somewhat until 1892 when it stabilized around 4500 individuals (this is still an underestimate due to lack of accurate records from that period). Throughout these years (1888-1902), Joseph Smith continued his evangelistic work throughout North America and Europe; he even preached on tour through South America in 1893! Unfortunately, he died shortly after reaching England in 1894 while on a missionary visit there………..

Fresh roasted coffee became popularized in the late 1800s and early 1900s through the efforts of small-time roasters and cafes across America. In 1906, American Roasting Company debuted their first fresh roasted coffee in New York City. By the end of World War II, fresh roasted coffee had spread throughout much of Europe and North America. The popularity of fresh roasted coffee continued to grow throughout the 1950s and 1960s as more restaurants began to offer it as an affordable option. During this time, different methods were used to roast Coffee beans: direct roasting, slow roasting, French roast, or cortland roast. In 1993, Starbucks introduced their own method for roasting Coffee called cold pressing. This method involves pressing whole bean Coffee beans directly into the ground state using a hand press instead of a mill. This method caused some controversy because it allows for less flavor control than traditional brewing techniques. Today, most cafes use cold pressed Coffee as their primary source for Fresh Roasted Coffee. Additionally, coldpressed Coffee is often seen as more sustainable due to its lower energy consumption than other methods like direct or slow firing roasts

The town of St. Helens, Oregon was founded in 1847 by Jedediah Smith and his family. The town grew rapidly due to its location on the Columbia River and its access to timber and grazing land. By 1870, the population of St. Helens had reached 5,000 people. In 1892, a devastating fire destroyed most of the town, leaving behind a 23-acre reconstruction site that is still in use today as a shopping mall. From its inception until 1912, St. Helens was served by the United States Post Office (USPO). This office was moved from Seattle to St. Helens in 1912 because of its strategic location on the river between Portland and Vancouver Island. The USPO remained in operation until it closed in 1965 due to budget cutsbacks within the post office system. Today, St. Helens is home to several popular tourist destinations including Mount Hood National Park, which has over 2 million acres of forested land within its boundaries; Crystal Cave; andMount Washington Observatory which offers stunning views of Mount Rainier National Park from its summit observatory!
The first permanent European settlers in the area were French traders who arrived in 1795. The earliest known name for what is now St. Helens, Oregon was "Iroquois", which may have been derived from the Algonkian word haldi meaning "to shelter." A store built on the site by Captain James Cook in 1802 is evidence of early white settlement in what is now Oregon. In 1812, U.S. President James K. Polk sent a mission to Indian nations to negotiate treaties and purchase land from them. One such treaty, the Treaty of Fort Hall, ceded much of present-day Oregon to the United States including part of present-day St. Helens and parts of Gates County and Douglas County today.
