Here in the small town of Salem, Oregon, it has been a tradition for many years for people to roast their own coffee. Starting with ground beans brought over from Holland, these roasters have created some of the most delicious and unique cups of coffee you will ever taste. Founded in 1907 by John Sellers and his brother-in-law Harry Potter, Sellers Coffee Roasting Company was one of the earliest American roasters. They roasted all manner of beans - dark roast、 light roast、obscene roast — until they mastered Brazilian Koffee (Kona Coffee) which became their signature flavor. Their products were sold throughout the United States before closing in 1971. In that year, they donated their entire operation to The Friends Of Salem Parks & Recreation Department who continue to run it today as a community center and cafe/roastery. Today there are several small businesses that still operate at Sellers Coffee Roasting Company including: Huckleberry's Coffee House & Cafe; The Bean Emporium; Mr. Bean's Beans; Andros' Pizza Pastry Shop; The Java Junction; and Wedgewood Café serving up innovative breakfast sandwiches and salads as well as delicious cupcakes for dessert. The late 1990s were a time of significant growth for artisan coffee brands as more and more people turned to small-batch roasts and espresso productions for their morning ritual. By 2000, Starbucks had reach over 250 stores across the United States and Canada. In 2002, they merged with Dunkin' Donuts parent company JAB Corp., creating one of the largest coffee empires in history. Today, Starbucks has over 12 billion dollars worth of assets under management and continues to grow its presence throughout North America and internationally.
Springfield, Oregon is a small town located in the Columbia River Gorge region of Western Oregon. The population was 11,202 at the 2010 census. In 2008, Springfield was selected as one of the "BEST Towns to Live In" by Forbes magazine. As of 2009, Springfield had an median household income of $50,512 and a per capita income of $21,567. The community began as a stop on stagecoach routes between Portland and Seattle in 1872. The first post office opened in 1874. After years of growth and development, the town site was purchased from the Bureau of Land Management by local farmers in 1958 for $1 million. The name honor John Cranchs who donated land to make up part of Springfield. In 1976, after years of planning and fundraising spearheaded by then-Mayor Lloyd Wright and his wife Betty Wright (now Mrs. Wright Childress), Springfield's first running track was built on land donated by developer Don Atchison Jr.. Enrollment on the track soared to over 500 students during its inaugural year; it remains one of the most popular sports venues in Oregon today! Today, Springfield is known for its vibrant arts scene which includes many galleries and performance spaces along with several cultural events each year including the prestigious Eugene Folk Festival and craft shows throughout the summer months

There are many different types of artisanal coffees available on the market today including roastings that are influenced by altitude (mountainous or lowland), time (straightforward or complex), type of bean (attonian or arabica), roast style (light or dark), water temperature (hot/warm), and method of infusion (pumpkintonization or pour over). These differences in technique result in unique flavors that can only be found at specific regions or origins.

Springfield has been in the same location since 1851. It was founded on the banks of the Willamette River by John and Lydia Bean, who named their town after Springfield, Massachusetts. The Beanes were among the first people to settle in what is now Springfield. They started a small farm and also built a store and home. In 1854, they moved to what is now Oregon City and opened a general store. In 1860, they built a sawmill on the riverbank. The mill continued to be used until it was destroyed by fire in 1862. During World War II, many soldiers from Springfield marched off to fight in Europe because there was no war available here at home. After the war, many people left Springfield for different reasons but some remain here today including members of the Umpqua Tribe of Indians who live near downtown.
