Today, Sherwood Coffee is a leading roaster and retailer of quality espresso and decaf beans. In addition to its retail presence, Sherwood Coffee has been an official partner of the Pendleton Coffee Festival since its inception in 2006.
Sherwood, Oregon is a small town in the Jackson County of Oregon. The population was 1,641 at the 2010 census. It is located on the Willamette River. The first people to live in Sherwood were Native Americans who migrated from the Great Lakes region during the Pleistocene epoch. In 1846, German immigrants founded a log cabin community called Kaiser Wilhelmstadt (Emperor Wilhelmstadt), which later became known as Sherwood. The first post office in Sherwood was established in 1849. In 1855, gold was discovered in what is now WA-Oregon and early settlers began seeking fortune in this new land. By 1860, about 120 men had gathered around an abandoned sawmill on the riverbank and started to prospect for gold. Some of these men brought their families with them when they left to start anew. Others arrived more recently and did not have access to physical resources or capital needed to start a business ventures such as mining or farming so they turned to other endeavors including logging and agriculture until 1865 when they finally struck it rich with discovery of over two million dollars worth of gold medals that year alone! Throughout its history, Sherwood has been variously home to farmers, miners, lumberjacks, bankers and other assorted entrepreneurs who have shaped its character and economy through their work or by leaving their mark on local culture and history.
