Pendleton, Oregon is a small city located in the far northwestern corner of Oregon. The population was 5,811 at the 2010 census. Pendleton's namesake is George Pendleton, an American physician and politician who served as a U.S. Congressman from Oregon from 1951 to 1959 and again from 1963 to 1967. Pendleton is also home to the University of Portland, one of the largest universities in Northwest America and one of the most selective institutions in United States higher education. The area that would become Pendleton was first settled by British immigrants in 1847 as part of what is now Vancouver County, Washington Territory. In 1851George Pendleton became the first American congressman from Oregon when he won election to represent that state’s 3rd congressional district. In Congress, Pendleton worked on issues such as education and infrastructure development within his district while also serving as chairman of the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC). He was reelected to serve two terms before resigning due to health problems in 1967 after being term limited under then-House rules. In 1978, George Pendleton III were inducted into the Oregon Congressional Hall of Fame following his service as a legislator and businessman in Oregon during the late 1800s and early 1900s; he died earlier this year at age 99 years old

Pendleton, Oregon is a small town located in the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, about 20 miles south of Burns, Arizona. Pendleton has a population of about 460 people as of 2010. The name "Pendleton" comes from the word "pendulous," which means that it hangs down like a piece of paper. The town was established in 1881 by settlers who were looking for an easier route to the Pacific Ocean than what they had in their immediate area. Pendleton Growers and Merchants Association was organized in 1882 to help support the growth of Pendleton. In 1906, Pendleton became one of three towns in Washoe County when it was separated from Nevada County. The first post office at Pendleton opened on October 6, 1881, and served only residents of Nevada County. It was renamed Bendigo on February 14, 1886. On May 15, 1907, the US Post Office at Pendleton merged with those at Reno and Truckee to form the present day US Post Office at Pendleton-Reno-Truckee-Fremont. As time passed and more people started coming to Pendleton, its economy changed too. Fishermen began fishing for salmon in the Snake River near present day Brookings; this led to development around this fishery as well as other industries such as lumbering and cattle ranching. By 1930 there were over 100 businesses in town and 2 schools providing education for children between 5th through 12th grades along with 16 churches serving a total population of 1,500 people! However during World War II most production stopped while many residents took up arms against Axis forces or worked on war-related projects such as building airfields or manufacturing munitions plants nearby outside of town limits! In 1960s pendletons experienced some growth due to new technology brought over by Boeing Aircraft Corporation who manufactured aircraft parts here until they moved away when that company closed down several years later leaving behind lots of abandoned buildings! As time went on however some sections within town limits (such as downtown) continued deteriorating until finally being taken down completely around 1996 after years OF appeals/comments from citizens!! Today there are only a few remaining structures from before 1996 including one old bank building still standing vacant next to the high school now used by Millsaps High School students!
