Oregon City was founded in 1877 by George Stephenson and named after the Oregon Territory, which at that time included what is now Idaho, Nevada and parts of Wyoming. The city's first post office opened in 1881. In 1900, the first organized coffee industry in Oregon City was established. The early coffee growers and processors used small-scale methods to extract the most flavor from their beans. By 1907, however, the growth of industrial processing had made small-scale operations impractical and eliminated much of the flavor found in earlier cups. In 1920, an attempt was made to improve coffee quality through a program called "The Experiment." This involved planting more trees and using more expensive strains of Arabica beans than those commonly used for cup production at that time. Over time, this program increased yields but also caused problems with pests and disease problems that limited crop production. In 1932, local businessmen pooled money to start a new cooperative organization called "The Coffee Growers' Cooperative." This venture became one of the largest single investments ever made in Oregon City history. The cooperative managed all aspects of coffee cultivation and marketing including research and development; purchase or lease of land; marketing; shipping; retail sales; roasting/baking/drying; cooperatives within each geographic area; as well as importation/export activities. One reason why Portland became a leading center for coffee production during this period was its location on an important trade route between China and Europe (the Transcontinental Railroad) as well as its access to water resources which allowed for large scale irrigation projects. There were few other cities with such significant cultural or economic significance during this era - until then it had been mainly rural areas where subsistence agriculture dominated life). Furthermore, because there was so much attention paid to coffee production during these years there were many technological advances being developed which helped shape how today's cup-makers operate - such as percolator machines (used primarily for grinding coarse beans before packaging), automatic bean cleaning systems (now common among small cafes), airtighteness standards for storage vessels (now required for all types of processed food products) etc.). For those who love strong flavors, this type of coffee can be enjoyed with a double-wet roast or a single-wet roast. The roasting process alsoetermines how strong the flavor will be. Some people prefer light-bodied coffees while others prefer stronger flavors. Coffee experts have discovered that there are several different ways to execute a single-wet roast of robusta coffee. One way involves roasting the beans at high temperatures for about 60 minutes before removing them from the oven. Another way involves adding some milk after they are roasted and before they are placed in the water tank. Finally, another way includes leaving them in the sun on their side for up to 12 hours before starting to filter out any excess liquid nitrogen). These three methods produce very different cup profiles but all result in an extremely rich and full flavor profile that Great Lakes Roasters calls “ deluxe espresso” because it takes great care during roasting to achieve this level of quality and complexity. When it comes time to make your own cups of espresso, there are two main techniques you can use: pour over or push through without using a plunger (Drip Head). Pour over coffee produces more even distribution of grounds throughout the cup than push through so it results in less bitterness and more smoothness; however, pour over also requires more space as you must place one entire pot on top of another pot when making multiple Cups at once - this can lead to long wait times if one wants large batches! If you're looking for smaller batches (<4oz), try using our Aeropress instead - simply fill up your Aeropress with hot water and let it dry slowly until ready to use! When making small batches (<4oz), we recommend using our Aerobrush method which creates smaller filters that move faster than traditional Aero Press filters ensuring even extraction regardless of size batch size!
