Newberg is a town in the U.S. state of Oregon, located on the Rogue River. The population was 5,827 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Salem-Keizer, OR Metropolitan Statistical Area. Coffee has been mentioned as one of Newberg's earliest industries and coffee farmers have been around since 1800. In 1852, George Washington Carver founded a farm here that produced cedar wood for furniture and other products. The first coffee beans were roasted in 1850 by Nathaniel Jarvis Shattuck and his partner John Waddell at their farm west of town on what is now SE Hawthorne Street. In 1878-79, Dr. David Starr Jordan visited Newberg to promote health reform in Oregon and taste some of the local coffee from Carver's farm which he had brought back with him from his trip to California that year. He introduced this type of coffee to world markets and it became very popular throughout most of America before disappearing in World War II when bauxite became more common Throughout much of history coffee has been an important crop like grains have always been but because it takes so long to mature it has not found widespread use as a beverage crop like wine or beer

Newberg, Oregon is a small town located in the central Oregon Valley. The population was 3,452 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Deschutes County seat and has a local government known as the Newberg Village Council. In addition to its downtown core, Newberg also includes five hamlets: Bangor, Clearwater, Eagletown, Gifford, and Milwaukie. Newberg was founded in 1847 by families from Walla Walla County in Washington Territory. The first settlers were men who had come overland from the East Coastrailroad company's Overland Route network into what is today Deschutes County. They named their new community after George WASHINGTON, Sr., one of their leaders and owners of the route. In 1849 or 1850 two other groups arrived in wagon trains from Walla Walla County: those headed by Captain John KNOX and his brother-in-law Major James CRAWFORD with their families. They called themselves "The Donation Party." The Donation Party set up a trading post near what is now Bend on December 15, 1849. By early 1850 they had grown to about 20 people including 6 Native Americans (the Tlingit) who came along as traders and help build churches and schools in what are now Adams Knob and Alderney Hamlets areas of Newberg village center today. On April 10th 1870 three men--George WASHINGTON Sr., Capt John Knox OR Jr.,and Hiram Swayne--drove out from Bend with four horses for Whatcom county about 100 miles northwest to striking gold near Old Town on May 12th 1870 This was an important event because it demonstrated that gold could be found east of the Cascade Mountains even though there had been no exploration or prospecting effort here since before Humboldt Purchase land was acquired by United States in 1848! After this discovery many people began coming to see if they could find any substantial amounts of gold along this newly discovered trail which led south past present day Portland across Hood River Gorge into Scio district where gold had been found earlier that year by parties led by Captain George Vancouver! In 1880 when Oregon became an state Newberg became its capital city but it only stayed that way for a few years until Salem moved back toPortland due to problems with fire code ordinances enacted during Reconstruction Periods throughout America related primarily to African Americans living within white neighborhoods then being forced off property through force or violence while black Americans continued working mostly independently providing goods and services within their communities without registration or licenses required thereby violating many white supremacy laws enforced at this time against all races regardless of education level or economic status often resulting in social/political instability often leading ultimately to violence as illustrated recently with events such as Occupy PortlandOccupy Gentoo Islandoccupy MAX Light RailStation

Newberg, Oregon is a town in Polk County, Oregon, United States. The population was 597 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Portland metropolitan area. Newberg was founded on April 1, 1892 by George Washington and James Tilton. The first post office in Newberg was established on September 12, 1893. Newberg's first store opened in what is now the Old Farmer's Market building on Main Street. In 1902, the town had a public library and a telephone system. Newberg also became home to Oregon State University from 1912-1994 and then Portland State University from 1994-2010. After being annexed by Portland in 1910 as part of that city's growth, Newberg had an active local community until it merged with Portland into one municipality effective January 1, 1992 following a vote by its residents. The history of Newberg stretches back more than 100 years to when George Washington and James Tilton founded the town here on April 1st 1892 while they were traveling through Oregon together on their way to found a new settlement known as 'The Gables'. At that time there wasn't any permanent settlements or towns within Polk County other than present day Salem which at that time only consisted of scattered farms and huts spread out over an area about eighteen miles long by twelve wide - much less room for development! To make up for this deficiency both men set out to find land where they could build their own homes with help from some of their fellow travelers who were generously sharing their homesteads with them during this early stage ofOregon Pioneer Expansion! They located what would become known as 'The Gables' which bordered what is today Polk County Road 44 about two miles west of present day downtown Salem! Both men were determined tomake this site their permanent home so they started construction on what would eventually become known as 'Old Home Place'. Work began shortly after Thanksgiving 1892 - just over two months after they arrived in Oregon! As soon as everything was ready they made the move inside...to tiny rooms barely large enough for four folks including Mrs Tilton herself!!! But those days are behind us now...the Pioneers have left behind an amazing legacy not only in our town but throughout Northwest Oregon!! There has been continuous growth and progress since then; thank you God for all that we've been able to accomplish together (and still continue to achieve)! Our current incarnation includes satellite phone service (!!), internet access (including streaming TV), restaurant/cafeteria services (Bella Luna!), 3 football fields/soccer field(!), multiple stores including one store open 24/7 (!), 4 churches (3 Baptist & 2 Methodist), several residences including 2 brand new homes completed just last year because we don't have enough housing units available anymore (& can finally offer mortgages too!), wonderful cultural events like Folklife Festival every year weekend springtime right alongside PDT LIVE Art Gallery show each Fall – check website link below for details! The population grew rapidly during the 1860s and 1870s, and by 1900, Newberg had reached its peak as a small farming community with about 1,000 residents. However, following the Panic of 1893, economic growth slowed and Newberg declined to become an urban center. In the early 21st century, however, it has experienced some revitalization due to its proximity to Portland metropolitan area and its role as a commercial center for the surrounding agricultural areas.
