White and his wife, Jennie. The Whites opened their first shop on Main Street, just south of the present day library. They served hot drinks and sandwiches to customers who walked up to the front door to order their caffeine fix. In 1912, Mrs. Hutton opened her own café on Second Avenue near the current day high school building. This was the first known permanent structure in Mcminnville that served coffee beans and pastries from morning until night! Mrs. Hutton continued to serve wonderful beverages and great food until her death in 1952! Her Cafe remains one of the most popular destinations for locals and tourists alike today!

Mcminnville is a small town in Oregon, located on the banks of the Willamette River. The population was 590 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Wenatchee-based county of King. The community began as a stop on the stagecoach route between Wenatchee and Seattle in 1859. When railroads arrived in Oregon in the late 19th century, Mcminnville became an important connection between these two states. The first store opened in 1865 and settlers started arriving from central Washington and northern California to properties along the riverbank. By 1880, there were five stores, two restaurants, four hotels, three churches and several residences. The railroad reached Mcminnville in 1915 and soon it was home to a number of businesses including a post office (1915), electric light company (1920), lumberyard (1925), grain elevator (1927) and machine shop (1928). The community declined during World War II because of its close proximity to Seattle and shipyards; however, it regained some life after that war when local farmers built new homes on land donated by timber companies. In 1959, Mcminnville became an incorporated town when Wenatchee County merged with King County; however, growth stalled until the early 1990s when new subdivisions were developed along Interstate 5 near downtown. Today, Mcminnville remains an agricultural center with significant production of hay, beans and other crops; however, it also has become known for its weaving industry which produces high-quality textiles such as carpets and upholstery materials. There are also several manufacturing plants associated with this sector including a chemical plant (1998) which manufactures plastics but closed down in 2010; a textiles factory that produced clothing for Sears Roebuck & Co.; a software company that manufactures operating systems for technology companies such as Apple Inc.; plus several services businesses such as law enforcement headquarters (1997) which provides security services for area businesses; food delivery service provider Zeus Pizza LLC.; real estate development firm First Place Properties LLP.; plus several small retailers such as hardware store Second Opinion Hardware Inc., Chinese restaurant Mandarin Oriental USA., grocery store No Name Grocery Store INC., flower shop Live Oaks florist AND more!
