The Mcminnville, Oregon Army National Guard was activated on December 12, 1903. The unit was redesignated the 5th Infantry Regiment on November 15, 1916 and then again on February 26, 1917 as the 503rd Infantry Regiment. The regiment was inactivated on October 1, 1919 at Fort Missoula.
Mcminnville, Oregon is a small town located in the midwest of the United States. The population was 3,479 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Deschutes County, Oregon metropolitan area. The name "Mcminnville" was given to the community by pioneers who named it after Captain James McMinn, surveyor and first white settler in what is now Deschutes County. In 1847, Capt. McMinn and his party discovered gold near present-day Mcminnville while exploring for a new route across northwestern Oregon. The discovery caused great excitement in early pioneer days and soon enough, many people had relocated to this fertile valley in search of fortune. The original settlers were farmers who raised corn, beans and other vegetables on their large lots along U.S. Route 20A (now Hwy 97). By 1860, when Deschutes County was formed from parts of Multnomah and Clackamas counties, most of these residents had moved away or died out; only a few scattered families remained on the valley's periphery. In 1871 Burt Reynolds founded the first radio transmitter in what is now Mcminnville when he leased an old flour mill site off US 97 for $1 per year to broadcasting company Western Union for three years; that same year also saw the erection of one of the earliest churches in Mcminnville – First Presbyterian – which has been serving its congregation ever since. Today’s Main Street still bears evidence of early prosperity as businesses accumulated there over time: A hardware store opened in 1906 featured two stories with an observation deck overlooking Main Street; a post office continued operations until 1951; then came T & L Marine Supply which operated until 1984 before becoming Jardine Paper Company (now defunct) until 1994; finally there was Kwik Trip Pizza which announced its closure just prior to 2010 but reopened as Total Wine Outlet late last year The history of Mcminnville goes back more than 100 years!

By 1950 however,McMINNVILLE had regained some of its former glory thanks to its strong economy and increasing population density which has led to redevelopment over time including an increase in commercial buildings and retail storefronts along Main Street
