The United States Air Force has a long and proud history of deploying gift baskets to commemorate special occasions. The first deployment was in 1951 when the USAF sent a basket to Hawaii in commemoration of the then-new U.S.-Hawaii Treaty. The basket featured a variety of American snacks, fruits, and chocolates as well as an airplane propeller ornament. Mcminnville is a small town located in the Western Oregon region of the United States. The population was 961 at the 2010 census, down from 1,023 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Salem-Keizer Metropolitan Statistical Area. The community was named after General George Armstrong Custer and his troops riding through this area in 1847. The post office opened in 1851, and by 1870 Mcminnville had a population of 350 people. In 1902 it had a population of 1,000. By 1910 Mcminnville had shrunk to its current size with a population of 961. The community has been home to various businesses over its history including logging, agricultural production, manufacturing, and retailing. The largest employer currently is Cascade Rubber Corporation which operates two factories which produce rubber products for export and local use. Other notable businesses include The Grain Store which provides groceries and other items for local residents as well as hosting events such as arts festivals and golf tournaments; started by Mrs. Hildebrandt in 1951; and Pioneer Nursery & Garden which produces flowers for local marketplaces as well as providing daycare services to children ages 0-5 years old

Mcminnville is a small town located in Curry County, Oregon, United States. The population was 1,844 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Salem-Keizer-Benton metropolitan area. The first settlers in Mcminnville were Amos and Israel Weems in 1848. They were the first to come from Oregon Territory and arrived on horseback. They built a log cabin near present-day Mcminnville on Hwy 101E. The Weems family also raised chickens and cattle there until 1856 when they moved to what is now Gladstone Township. In 1854, Angus McDermott came to Oregon Territory and started ranching around present-day Mcminnville along Hwy 101W. In 1865, he established the post office at what is now Mcminnville with Wm Cason as his clerk. The post office was renamed after Salmon Piscatori, an Italian immigrant who had helped build the railroad through Curry County in 1870. A sawmill was erected by Jno Gomes in 1876 at what is now downtown Mcminnville. The mill continued operation until 1984 when it closed due to lack of demand for lumber products in the area following a boom in logging during the late 1980s and early 1990s which left many mills idle throughout much of Western Oregon. The first school in Mcminnville was organized by Mrs Ethel Brown on October 14, 1875 under the name of "Oregon Female Schools". A second school opened February 3, 1886 under that name also serving girls only until 1915 when boys became eligible for attendance as well; this school building still stands today across from First Methodist Church on Hwy 101W (now US 99W). In 1903 a church was organized here with Reverend Loomis as its pastor; this church served as both a daycare center and churches for various community functions up until it burned down in 2006 while being rebuilt..
