Lebanon, Oregon is a small town in the U.S. state of Oregon that is located about 20 miles east of Salem. The population was 2,824 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Salem-Keizer metropolitan area. Oregon has been inhabited by Native Americans for over three hundred years and there are still several villages and tribal lands in Lebanon which date back to that time as well as a few relics left from pioneer days such as an early settler's cabin and a house built by Methodist missionaries in 1875. The first European to view Lebanon from sea level on July 4, 1821 was Commodore James Cook who named it "Lebanon" after his ship HMS Beagle which had stopped there on its way around Cape Horn. The town began to form around 1876 when some pioneers came down the cottonwood trail from Keizer and started homesteading near what is now Lebanese Boulevard/Rte 236 today's business district including what are now buildings like the old schoolhouse (1876), Presbyterian chapel (1885), store (1886), telephone pole (1906), post office (1907) and Jordan Lutheran church on North Main Street which served as both courthouse and social hall until 1914 when it burned down during a rainstorm. In 1907, Lebanon voted to become an incorporated municipality with Drury Hall as its first mayor and Cyril Hixon as its first clerk. In 1916, the original annexation of much of present day Lebanon by Salem was ratified via referendum with 97% voting in support while only 1% against it based on community opposition). On December 12, 1924, Lafayette County became oneida County effective January 1, 1925 with all inhabitants within this new county becoming residents thereof regardless of their place of origin or residency within other counties prior thereto; however, citizens of Clackamas County continued to be registered with Lafayette County even though they were not actually living therein due to their having Isaac Newton listed on their property deed etc.; therefore residents still maintain ties with their ancestral home communities here even though they live elsewhere This arrangement continued until May 5th 1970 when all citizens within Oneida County were given full citizenship rights by Govt Ordinance No 16-1970 effective immediately following passage thereof through concurrent Legislature; thereafter any citizen residing outside Oneida boundaries may vote & hold office subject only to such laws & limitations set forth herein relative to citizens within that boundary without jeopardy or restriction thereby

Lebanon, Oregon is a small town in the U.S. state of Oregon. It is located in Multnomah County, about 15 miles north ofPortland and 25 miles south of Salem. The population was 553 at the 2010 census. The land that makes up present-day Lebanon was first settled by French Canadians in 1846. In 1871, Englishmen purchased portions of the township from the Canadien settlers and renamed it Multnomah County after their county seat, Montreal, Canada. In 1907, Multnomah County became part of Oregon when it was created from parts of Washington and Douglas counties. The name change reflected the growing community's ties to both states as well as its location between them-Multnomah County lay on both sides of Interstate 5 which connected Vancouver and Portland across the Columbia River Gorge. Oregon Route 97 runs through Lebanon right past the town limits; however, there is no road directly into or out of town limits so Highway 97 can only be accessed by traveling east on I-5 for about 15 miles until reaching an interchange with US 97 (the old alignment) just east of town proper. A short drive northeast from downtown brings one to Salem where one can access Interstate 5 heading west or an alternative route northwest via State Route 99 leading all the way to Idaho Falls before terminating at US 98 southbound near Coeur d'Alene City Airport
