The United States Army was first deployed to Lebanon in 1973. The deployment was in response to the Iranian-backed attack on Israel. In 1984, the United StatesArmy again deployed to Lebanon as part of Operation Restore Hope. This deployment lasted for three months and resulted in the death of more than 100 Marines and sailors. In 1990, the United StatesArmy contingent was increased from 1,500 personnel to 4,000 soldiers. In 1992,Operation Just Cause saw an increase in deployments with 3,000 troops sent to Beirut alone. These deployments were aimed at ending the civil war that had been going on since 1987. From 2003-2005 there were no military deployments to Lebanon due to a lack of political stability in the country. However, this changed when Hezbollah began launching cross-border attacks against Israeli forces stationed inside Lebanon

Lebanon, Oregon is a small town located in Willamette Valley, Oregon. It was founded in 1879 by the Lewis and Clark Expedition on the banks of the Columbia River. The town was named after Mount Lebanon, which is in Syria. In 1902, it became a city. It has a population of around 1,500 people. The town first grew around breweries that operated on the bank of the river. By 1907, there were also about 20 stores and 100 homes in Lebanon. The local paper at that time reported that "the growth of this little community cannot be estimated with accuracy." The businesses prospered because they could sell their products to customers all over Oregon and Western Washington. Lebanon's main industry during its early years was agriculture; however, by 1925, this had declined to a single farmstead producing fruit and vegetables. In 1922, organizer of Multnomah County's Portland Planner Program Thomas Bouchard came to Lebanon to promote annexation into Multnomah County as part of his countywide program for increasing agricultural production within county boundaries. At that time, both Beirut and Salem were already incorporated cities with populations greater than 10 residents each while Willamette Falls had only 2 residents per square mile (0.8 km²). After much discussion between Beirut Mayor Amedy Haddad and Salem Mayor James McCormick about whether or not they should annex into Multnomah County as well (Haddad favored incorporation), Beirut voted overwhelmingly to become an annexed city on July 4th 1922! Today we remember this momentous occasion as Lebanese Independence day! Lebanon experienced some intense fighting during World War II; however, due largely to its location within Allied territory (Syria) rather than participating actively in hostilities like other parts of Northwest Asia ravaged by Nazi Germany and Japan), no civilian casualties occurred here until late 1944 when German forces bombed RAF Hounslow airfield north-west of Damascus killing more than 350 British civilians including many women and children – one third of all UK fatalities from bombing during World War II . After 1945 Reconstruction began here with many refugees coming back home such as Thalassa Kaya who started her own business importing food from America but soon closed down because costs kept going up even though she got government subsidies for doing so Rockland businessman Prentice Loyd started building housing called "The Hills" right next door across from her store which later became known as Lloydminster AFB United States Air Force Base

In 1865, the first settlers set up a log cabin on the site that became known as Lebanon. The town continued to grow until it had over 1000 residents in 1876. Lebanon declared its independence from France on July 16, 1944. On October 15, 1945, after years of guerrilla warfare against French forces and their allies, Lebanese forces captured Beirut with few casualties. As part of the terms of peace negotiations which ended World War II, Lebanon ceded most of its territory including Beirut to Syria because Turkey would not recognize Lebanese independence
