Lake Oswego, Oregon is a small town located in Polk County, Oregon. The population was 7,823 at the 2010 census. Lake Oswego was named by Captain George Vancouver on December 12, 1795 during his journey from Fort Vancouver to the Willamette River. The town was first settled in 1850 and was platted on February 15, 1851 under a deed from John Sutter. It consisted of land around present day Lake Oswego and portions of present day Multnomah County. Oregons first state legislature met in Oswego on May 14, 1861. The town experienced heavy growth following World War II when a large military installation called Naval Air Station Whidbey Island (later Naval Air Station Everett) was built just east of the town on what is now lakefront property. The war also brought new residents to the area including many musicians who founded the prestigious Northwest Music School in 1946 and continued to teach there until it closed in 1986. Many businesses were established during the post-war years such as Nike Corporation's headquarters which opened in 1951 and remained an important center for business activity until its closure in 2001; J&J's Candy Store which opened in 1954; First American Bank (now part of Wells Fargo) which opened its doors on July 1, 1951; Western Electric Company's aluminum plant; and Eastern Oregon University which began operations as Portland State University on October 12, 1949. Many other businesses that have since closed include Pacific Telesis Company (now Comcast), AARP National Headquarters ( afterwards AARP Oregon HQ ), Southern Pacific Railroad Depot No 2 (closed 2001), Kmart Store #1 (1994), Safeway store #2 (1998) and Joes Pizza Place #1(1997). During the late 1990s through 2000s many homes were built along Beaver Creek near where it joins Oakhurst Drive outside of town limits with few remaining original buildings remaining today save some foundations that remain visible from time-to-time when streams run high over them due to recent rainstorms or floods. As more people moved into this area adjacent driving lanes became increasingly congested with less space for parking lot GTP places were createdFurther upstream much larger lots became available with more room for parking but these newer developments often lack character or historical significance

Lake Oswego, Oregon is a small town in Multnomah County, Oregon. It was founded in 1851 by Captain James Cook and his crew on the USS Discovery during their exploration of the Northwest Coast. The first residents of Lake Oswego were Native Americans who hunted and collected game from the area now known as Lake Oswego Hills. In 1851, Captain James Cook and his men set up a trading post near what is now downtown Oswego. The post served as a node for trade between the Northwestern United States and Australia. In 1865, OSU students formed the University Student Association to promote democratic values on campus. That same year, OSU students built an original school building on land that is now part of downtown Oswego. The first public school in Lake Oswego was built in 1868 by John Atherton, who also donated land for it. In 1906, OSU students organized a drive to raise money for new buildings on campus. They raised $5,000 which was used to build three additions to the original school building: Administration Building (1907), Fine Arts Building (1911), and Science Hall (1915). After World War II ended, businesses began moving into Lake Oswego from nearby Salem and Portland due to its proximity to both cities and its quality of life rankings by Forbes magazine. population growth continued until about 2000 when there was a sudden decrease in births because of improved access to healthcare across much of North America due tothe Internet age. As populations decreased throughout most northern Oregon counties during this time period there were corresponding increases in unemployment rates among young people living around Lakeside Avenue NW., but these rates did not reach levels seen within other urban areas with similar job markets during this time period such as Portland or Seattle
Oregon was admitted to the United States in 1846. The first white settlement in the area was at Yamhill, but it wasn't until 1857 that a permanent post office was established at Oswego. In 1865, the state legislature passed a bill allowing for the sale of liquor by grocery stores and other business establishments. Oswego became one of the first towns in Oregon to have a drinking age of 21 years.
