La Grande is home to an estimated 100,000 people who are primarily engaged in agriculture or ranching products such as cattle, sheep, pork and wheat production; however some businesses have grown rapidly such as Google Fiber which relocated its headquarters from nearby Portland to La Grande in 2013. The city has also been known for its cultural attractions such as art galleries and music festivals; however recent development has focused on expanding infrastructure such as new roads and highways which have allowed for more jobs and growth within city limits.
