They had learned about coffee from a man named J.B. Beattie who had been operating a small grocery near by for years. Over time, other stores were opened in Klamath Falls, including The Coffee House Cafe & Restaurant in 1955, which is still open today and serves up delicious homemade coffee every day. In 1969, Swiss-born café owner Fritz Niestedt opened his own business at 915 Sutter Street which served up traditional Swiss coffee drinks until he passed away in 1984. After Fritz's death, his wife continued running the business until she sold it to current owners Darlene and Donny Schneider in 2007. Today, there are over twenty different cafes serving up delicious Italian-inspired coffees all across Klamath Falls! Klamath Falls, Oregon is a town in Multnomah County, Oregon, United States. The population was 5,826 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Portland metropolitan area. Klamath Falls is a small city on the banks of the Willamette River. The river forms a border between Multnomah County and Clackamas County. The first people to settle in what is now Klamath Falls were Fur traders and their families who came overland from Russia in 1846-47. In 1868, John Brigham built his flour mill on the east side of the river near present day Del Norte Boulevard and Broadway Street. The mill was destroyed by fire in 1870 but it reopened as a shoe store in 1872 before becoming a bakery until 1907 when it became an ice cream parlor and then closed down for good. In 1906-07, Jens Jensen started an agricultural experiment station near Klamath Falls to study how to grow wheat better on cold winter days when other crops failed In 1916–17 Eugene Teitelbaum started an experimental farm at present day Airport Road and E Burnside Avenue which produced apples for local markets Teitelbaum sold his share of the farm to Harry Aiken in 1924 Aiken continued to operate the farm until he sold it to Johan Nielsen in 1951 Nielsen continued running the farm until he died in 1984 ( Nielsen Homestead Museum)

The Klamath Falls area was first settled by the Native Americans in the 18th century. The name of the waterfall was given to the community by Captain George Vancouver, who named it after his native home, Klamath Lake. Fort Simcoe was built on a small island at the falls in 1824, and in 1847, Oregon became a part of the United States. In 1861, Congress authorized construction of a railway through the area and in 1865, construction began on the first section of what is now Amtrak's Pacific Northwest Railway. By 1870, over $1 million had been spent on infrastructure development for the town and its surrounding region. The town reached its peak popularity during World War II as military personnel from nearby Portland brought their families to live and work in Klamath Falls. However, post-war economic decline caused much social deterioration and social issues led to increased crime rates in Klamath Falls during this time period. In 1978, Klamath Falls competed with Newport Beach ( Californy) as one of two communities chosen for incorporation into an urban center within city limits under Measure O (the "urban growth measure"). However, because of financial difficulties incurred from this move and falling real estate prices within city limits, Klamath Falls failed to achieve full municipal status until 2000 when it joined The City of Eugene as one of five Eugene PIOs (professional organizations).
