During World War II, Klamath Falls played host to military installations as part of Project Chanute which aimed to supply food for troops fighting in Europe and Japan. In 1951, after more than 50 years as an incorporated town, Klamath Falls merged with the nearby city of Pendleton to form one municipality under the name of Pendleton-Eugene-Salem Combined Statistical Area (CSA). Today, Klamath Falls is a thriving community with a diverse economy which includes agriculture, manufacturing, mining and logging. Klamath Falls, Oregon is a town in Klamath County, Oregon, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. The town was founded on January 15, 1879 by Zenas Sprague and his wife Fannie. It was named after the Klamath River in southern Oregon. After two years of development, the town had a single store and six residents. On February 10, 1881, Klamath Falls became the county seat of Klamath County. On October 2, 1886, Fannie Sprague died in childbirth; her husbandZenas took over management of the community as its first female director-general. In 1893 he sold most of his holdings to Jno Ayer for $15000 (). In 1907 Zenas Sprague donated land to build a Catholic church that would become St. John's Episcopal Church (now known as the Basilica of Saint John the Divine). In 1912–1914 World War I interrupted construction of this church; however it reopened in 1918 after completion with new stained glass windows by Portland-based artist Edward Hopper and additional funds from Zenas Sprague and other donors. The parishioners renovated and enlarged it again between 1945 and 1951 while under sponsorship from Holy Cross High School; during its second phase it reached its current size and condition including an extensive restoration project completed in 2006-2007 which included reopening original doors and window panes throughout main building as well as repair/replacement of all original brick chimneys although some remain missing due to weathering). In 1946–1949 attempts were made to attract buyers for what would becomeSprague Elementary School but no success until 1954 when local businessman Lloyd Eaton bought property adjoining Sprague Elementary School from Mrs Eaton for $8000 (). He began developing it into what is now called Eaton Community College which opened on September 16th 1957 with 7 acres (2 hectares) of land (). The college grew rapidly both academically (containing 12 faculties by 1971)and athletically (becoming one of only two NCAA Division III colleges east of Interstate 5). As early as 1961 Eaton also began plans for a shopping center adjacent to college - this never came to fruition but did result in the construction beginning around 1970 of what is now known as Sprgagee Shopping Center which served primarily students at school through CNU Extension Service before becoming an anchored general store with large retail space within days following opening joining PDX mall later that decade.; finally starting around 2000 expansion resulted in creation or enlargement off Hospital Road NE into what is now known as Sprigatee Plaza complete with several high end restaurants inside plaza larger than any existing commercial area outside city limits

The first store in the town was opened in 1872 by Capt. John Hofer, who built it on the banks of the Klamath River. In 1876, a post office and school were established in Klamath Falls, and in 1903, a hospital was constructed to serve the local population. In 1915, Klamath Falls became an incorporated city under Oregon law. In 1920, it merged with nearby Redding to become one of the largest cities in Oregon and one of its most populous communities.
