Hillsboro is a community in the U.S. state of Oregon, located in the Portland metropolitan area. The population was 27,871 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Salem-Keizer-Benton Combined Statistical Area. Hillsboro is one of two communities in Multnomah County that are part of the Portland metropolitan area, and it lies within its boundaries on both sides of Interstate 5. Hillsboro was founded by Jedediah Smith in 1824 as an agricultural settlement on a rise overlooking downtown Portland. In 1851, businessman John Tilton donated land to become what is now Hillside Park, which included much of what stands today including most of the original buildings and streets. The first post office was established in Hillsboro on July 3, 1850, with Jethro Gibbs as mail carrier and local native Sidney Chapman as clerk. The town grew rapidly from its initial handful of residents to more than 2,000 by 1860 thanks to connections made through business ventures and missionary work among the Native Americans living there;Smith became known for his Donation Land Sales which helped contribute to this growth. By 1870, several brick churches had been built and businesses began forming: Thompson's Sawmill (1870), Henson & Company flour mill (1872), Jethro Gibbs House (1876), Henson & Company grocery store (1877). During World War II, Hillsboro played an important role as a munitions production center due to its location near I-5 and its close proximity to Boeing Aircraft Factory Noonan Field; many hillsborough citizens served in combat during World War II including General George Patton who initially drove into Brookings after being spotted driving down I-5 toward Hillside Park; according to historian Don Freeman this event marked "the beginning of [Patton]'s meteoric rise" within American society leading up to his eventual appointment as commander Middle East Command during Operation Overlord later that year Afternoon classes were suspended at Multnomah High School during WWII because fuel shortages led school officials say they could not run any buses or vehicles off campus so students walked or took cars home
The National Guard has been a part of the United States of America for over two hundred years. The first national guard units were raised in 1792 as a part of the Continental Army. In 1876, the National Guard was reestablished as an independent force and it played a critical role in American victory in the Mexican-American War. In 1940, President Franklin D. Roosevelt organized the first peacetime National Guard troops into Service Reserve Units to provide them with training and equipment for wartime service. The current system ofNational Guard gift history began with World War II when Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia created one thousand National Guardsmen to help maintain law and order during the war. After the war, Mayor LaGuardia ordered that all New York City policemen be given automatic weapons so that they could protect citizens from crime. This event is known as Officer’s Day because all city police officers received automatic weapons on that day. In 1971, Governor Nelson Rockefeller authorized state armories to sell surplus military equipment to state agencies through Military Assistance Administration (MAA). This program became known as Armor Sales Program because most of the arms sales were directed towards state agencies such as corrections and disaster relief organizations. Over time, MAA grew into what it is today - The Defense Security Cooperation Agency - which helps promote U.S.-led security cooperation worldwide by providing funding for programs designed to improve defense preparedness and interoperability across government departments and services. As more federal departments entered into cooperative agreements with other Federal Agencies under DFSA, gifts became increasingly personalized or specific to individual departments or officials within those agencies rather than simplyMilitary Assistance Administration items being shared among Federal Agencies at large (see below). Hillsboro is a small city in the northwest corner of Oregon, United States. Hillsboro was founded in 1847 by men from New York and Delaware. The first post office was established in 1849, and the first store was opened in 1852. The city became a census-designated place (CDP) in 1950. Hillsboro has a population of 14,811 as of the 2010 US Census. The early history of Hillsboro can be traced back to two groups of pioneers who arrived in Oregon during the late 1800s: New Yorkers and Delawareans. These immigrants were attracted to the opportunities available in this new landmass and were determined to establish themselves here. In 1847, two men from New York named John McNamara and John Doherty set out on horseback for what would become Hillsboro. They had no idea that they would be founding fathers of what would become one of Oregon's most important cities. The group reached Jackson County by way of Humboldt County on July 25, 1847; they named their new settlement "Hillsborough". Over time, many other pioneers joined the McNamara/Doherty team as they worked to build a permanent community here. By 1860, there were six stores and about 120 people living in Hillsboroughtown – all struggling to survive on meager resources supplied by local farmers. However, through hard work and determination, these founders eventually built up an impressive infrastructure that helped make Hillsborough one of the most successful communities in Northwest America at that time: Of particular note were its well-developed schools, churches, businesses and civic organizations; as well as its significant contribution to regional economic development throughout its era! In 1850, following years of growth and progress made within Hillboroughtown itself – including construction of a road connecting it with Salem – it was decided that the town should be renamed "Hillsboro" after General Ulysses S. Grant's visit to Northwest America during his Second Annualmessage address on November 15th that year! This event marked yet another milestone for this burgeoning community; thanks also go out to Mrsgrant for her part (*giggle*)in achieving this goal! The name change came into effect on January 1st 1951 under Mrgrant's leadership – making him one proud Founding Father!

In 1914, Hillsboro became the capital of Oregon Territory when it was created from parts of Multnomah and Washington counties. The city's growth accelerated after World War I when its location near the new interstate highway system made it an attractive destination for businesses and employees. In 1954, Hillsboro became a separate city with its own government and police force. It experienced rapid growth during the late 1960s through the 1970s as marijuana began to be legalized in Oregon and cocaine trafficking increased along Interstate 5 in nearby Portland. During this time, Hillsboro also played an important role in developing the region's music industry with several recording studios being located there including Columbine Recording Studios and Jackpot Records During the late 1990s and early 2000s, Hillsboro experienced significant social unrest related to methamphetamine addiction and other drug abuse issues which led to increased law enforcement activity around the town.
