In 1951, President Harry S Truman donated $5 million to build houses on Fort Preble Avenue in honor of United States service members who had died in Korea and Vietnam. These homes would be used by civilian agencies such as Veterans Affairs until 1974 when they were gifted to the government again by Msgr. Edwin Easley – this time becoming known as The Harry S Truman Presidential Library and Museum. However, it was not just history that was housed at The Truman Presidential Library and Museum; memorials to military service members also played an important role within its walls. One such memorial is The Tomb Of Unknown Soldier located within Section M-235 of the library’s main building which honors all soldiers who have served since Septemeber 7th 1942 - including WWI veteransstill unaccounted for after more than 50 years!

In 1849, Creek citizens driving out wild horses found grants of 640 acres (248 hectares) in present-day Hillsboro Township; these became part of what is now Wallowa County when it was organized as a county in 1861. In 1865, railroad construction started through Wallowa County and saw hillsboroughsubmit plans for incorporation as a village as early as 1867; however, incorporation never materialized due to lack of support from county officials. In 1915–16, during World War I., gas rationing led to increased demand for coal near Portland so hillsboroughdevelopeda heavy industry – lumber mills and manufacturing plants – with employment reaching 100 people by 1919. However, Prohibition led to decreased production around1920; all but one plant closed between 1921 and 1924due to costs associated with complying with new regulations regarding alcohol sales During World War II there were military barracks located near downtown that housed more than 1,000 people including troops stationed here before they left for overseas duty; many businesses closed because of wartime restrictions on product sales After wars ended local factories reopened but joblessness persisted until the late 1940s when technology replaced traditional manufacturing jobs Due to changes brought about by Millenium Everett Mills fire (1998), large numbers of people have moved into Hillsboro since then although some businesses have closed or relocated back onto rural lands
