From the early days when farmers brought their own beans to J.M. Smucker Coffee in North Portland, to the growth of local roasters like Blue Bottle Coffee and First range Coffee, Hillsboro has been home to some amazing coffee experiences. The first time I tried high-quality coffee was at a restaurant in North Portland called King's Road Cafe. The beans were fresh and delicious - it was one of the best cups of coffee I've ever had! While there, I also enjoyed a small batch of their Black & Tan blend which is now one of my favorite styles of coffee. Since then, Hillsboro has become an important center for roasting and brewing great coffees. There are now several fantastic local roasters who offer delicious cups of espresso, cold brews, or latte art drinks all made with premium beans from around the world! It's clear that there's no end to the love affair between locals and good quality espresso!

The first coffee that was grown in Hillsboro, Oregon was the Helianthus annuus variety, which was brought over by Scotsmen in the early 1800s. The Annual Tree Coffee Club was started in 1904 and is still in operation today. In 1913, the company founded by John J. Macdonald became the first commercial roaster in Oregon. The company also grew rich from their purchase of a small farm near Hillsboro in 1922. They later sold the farm to Harry Hargrave and continued to roast coffee until its closure in 1984.
Hillsboro is a city in the U.S. state of Oregon and the seat of Hillsboro County. The population was 45,619 at the 2010 census, making it the largest city in Oregon by population. It is also the most populous city within Metropolitan Portland, which has a population of 647,033 as of 2019. Hillsboro began as an agricultural community on what is now PGE Park Avenue SE in 1892 and grew rapidly during World War I due to its proximity to army camps. By 1920, there were over 1,000 businesses in town and it had a population of 20,000. In 1930, Hillsboro became a city and annexed part of Portland. In the late 1990s and 2000s, Hillsboro experienced rapid growth as an bedroom community for Portland; however, during that time there was little development around downtown or other major attractions such as PGE Park Avenue SE or Third Street NE because no one wanted to develop there because they felt it would compete with their own development potential withinPortland limits. Growth resumed in earnest after Mayor Chuck Brown's re-election victory in 2006 and he developed policies encouraging residents to walk or bike to work instead of driving or taking buses which led to more developments around downtown along Third Street NE including The garage which houses many local businesses like Joes Pizza & BBQ., Chinese restaurant Provenzo Italiano & Fresh Baked Goods,,and several high-end hotels including Marriott Marquis Hotel & Towers (formerly known as Regency Ballroom), Renaissance Rosemont Hospitality District hotel (formerly known as Myriad Tower), Holiday Inn Express Hotel Jordan Creek Crossing / former Renaissance Rosemont Hospitality District hotel adjacent to Interstate 5/Oregon Route 97 interchange - all developing together into what is now called Downtown Hillsboro redevelopment area ().

Hillsboro is a town in eastern Oregon, United States. It is the seat of Hillsboro County and is located on the U.S.-Canada border. The population was 6,362 at the 2010 census. The first settlers in what would become Hillsboro were two families who arrived in 1855 from Ohio. The community was founded by Capt. John Beecher and his family on the banks of the Willamette River, north of Salem, Oregon Territory. Beecher had heard about goldfields being discovered near Rocklin, California and decided to set up shop along the river as a way to make money while he explored for treasure. In 1859, when troops under Brigadier General George Armstrong Custer fought against Native Americans at Battle Of Washoe Creek, Lt.(jg.) Edward Jobling came across an Indian village on the east side of hills overlooking the creek where he built himself a cabin with some logs and tilled land that became today's town hall complex (now known as The Joblings Museum). jobling named his new settlement "Hillsboro" after General Custer's headquarters at Fort Humboldt on Mount Hood in Washington State
Hillsboro was founded by the Lewis and Clark Expedition in 1805, and became a U.S. town in 1846. The first post office opened in Hillsboro on July 17, 1846, and was called Hawthorne. The name was changed to Hillsborough in 1851, before becoming Hillsboro proper in 1857. In 1923, Hillsboro joined the Oregon State University system as a degree-granting institution.
