Dallas, Oregon is a small town located in the J mountains region of eastern Oregon. The population was 998 at the 2010 census, and it is most commonly known as the home of Starbucks. In 1978, two brothers, Bruce and Dan Tiller, opened up their first coffee shop in a log cabin on the edge of town. At that time, it was only open to locals. The coffee shop quickly grew and soon became a popular stopping place for people traveling through J mountain National Forest. In 1990, they moved to what is now their current location – a former funeral home – and started production on their own beans. Today, Starbucks uses over 100 different beans from around the world in its coffee offerings. The success of Starbucks has drawn other businesses to Dallas including Dunkin’ Donuts founder David Wondrich who bought the rights to use “Starbucks Coffee” trademarks in Portland; KFC owner Danny Masterson who opened up an adjacent restaurant called Pizzeria Mozza near downtown; Red Lobster restaurant owner Rick Bayless who built him one of his first restaurants in Dallas; Wendy’s fast food chain founder Michael Jordan visited Dallas for an event related to Nike’s Air Force One tour; and even AT&T placed an order for 10 million boxes of instant coffee.

Dallas, Oregon is a small town located in the Willamette Valley of Oregon. The population of Dallas was 5,814 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Salem-Keizer-Bellingham area, which has a population of over 210,000 people. The city was founded in 1885 by John Denton and named for his brother Dallas, Texas. The first store in town was built on First Street. In 1907, Dallas became an incorporated town with a mayor and six council members. In 1951, it changed its name to Dallas after Raymond Ladd (founder of KFC) donated $5,000 to help promote growth in the city. On July 1st, 1957, Dallas became an unincorporated community again when it ratified a request from the City Council to become an open-air shopping center with two blocks of commercial space on First and 10th Streets NW. In 1969-1970 (the final year of Telluride's heyday), Dallas experienced one of the most prolific real estate transactions in Oregon history when developer Lew Weitz bought 3 acres south of downtown from rancher Wanda Andrews for $1 million dollars - becoming one of only two developers ever to purchase land contiguous along First Street NW betweenNW 15th Ave NW and I-5 outside Portland during that time period! At that point Weitz had yet another development opportunity across I-5 just north of downtownPortland - so he quickly snapped up this property! Development commenced immediately with Weitz erecting four highrise buildings on what would later be called "The Strip" totaling 236 feet tall - making him oneofthelargestandmostprominentdevelopersinDallas duringthattimeperiod! There is a long and varied history of high-quality coffee. Coffee beans were first roasted by farmers in the Middle East and Africa, and it was only later that processing methods were refinement to create a more consistent product. As coffee became popular in Europe, its production began to increase, with different regions producing different types of beans. In 18th century Switzerland, for example, coffee was sourced from Ethiopia; in 17th century Holland, Sumatra; in 14th century Italy (the Venetian Republic), Folciano; and in 12th century Spain (Granada). The variety of plants used also played an important role in the quality of the bean. For example, Arabica beans are usually darker than Robusta beans, while Ethiopian and Brazilian coffees are typically lighter in color. In recent decades, technological advancements have helped make coffee harvesting easier as well as improve safety for workers. Roasting machines now roast many different types of beans at once so that better consistency can be achieved. Coffee historians have also noted that various processors have been able to add flavor profiles specific to their region’s culture which has contributed to variations within the taste profile of each bean type. Today’s consumers enjoy many different types of coffee thanks to advances in technology and globalization.

The first coffee beans were grown in the area now known as Guatemala. Roasted under a hot sun, this Coffee was used medicinally to help ease pain and inflammation. The beans were then taken to Ethiopia where they were roasted for the first time. This process helped create a higher quality bean that had more flavor and aroma.

Dallas, Oregon was founded in 1887 by John A. Robertson and James Fenton. The town was named for Dallas, Texas, where Robertson had family roots. The first post office in the town was established in 1888. By 1912, Dallas had a population of seventy-five people and a school. The town experienced growth during World War I with the influx of soldiers and their families. In 1925, the city council authorized the erection of a municipal park to serve as an open space for residents and visitors alike. During World War II, Dallas became an important airbase due to its location near Portland International Airport. After the war ended, the city saw rapid growth with the arrival of new residents and businesses. In 1970, a fire destroyed much of downtown Dallas but it reopened within two years. Today, Dallas is one of Oregon's most vibrant towns with a rich history that has been preserved through its community spirit and active cultural engagement

The first European to visit the area was Captain James Cook in 1778. The area was part of the Mexican land grant Rancho San Antonio de Llano de Tejas to José de Zavala in 1836. The town of Dallas was founded by Lucien Carr in 1847, and it became a stop on the Oregon Trail. In 1862, Dallas was made an incorporated city with a population of around 100 people. In 1916, the city's charter was amended to allow for annexation by Portland. In 1948,Dallas merged with Portland's other localities forming the City ofPortland.
