The Oregon Army National Guard has a rich history in Dallas, Oregon. The unit was first organized on November 12, 1892 as the 1st Infantry Battalion of the (Oregon) Territorial Militia. The battalion served in various capacities until it was redesignated as the 3rd Infantry Battalion on October 17, 1915. It saw action during World War I and then served in the Pacific Theater from 1941 to 1945. On September 11, 1946, the battalion was re-designated as the 3rd Infantry Regiment and returned to Stateside duty. It joined forces with other units of the National Guard for Operation Desert Shield in 1990 and participated in operations against Iraqi forces until 1992. The regiment also played a role in Operation Restore Hope following Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
Dallas, Oregon is a city in Multnomah County, Oregon, United States. The population was 17,691 at the 2010 census. It is the largest city in Multnomah County and the county seat of Multnomah County. The city is located on the Willamette River north of Salem and east of Portland. The first Europeans to explore what is now Dallas were fur traders from Rattle Creek in present-day Alberta who passed through the area in 1807. They named their small trading post "Tall Timbers" after a tall tree near their settlement that they saw while exploring the area. A few years later, officers of George Vancouver's expedition found evidence that there was an ancient Native American village nearby and named it Tall Timbers Station after this location. In 1839, James Kapp took over management of Tall Timbers Station from James Simpson and began construction on what would become Multnomah County courthouse and jail. The first store built in Dallas was a subscription shop operated by Pacific Fur Company trader Captn John Waddell on Depot Street between Second and Third streets in 1846. In 1865, when Multnomah County was created from parts of Washington County, Dallas became its county seat; it remained so until 1907 when Portland became the new county seat following annexation by Portlandchloride politics withinMultnomah County as part of statewide referenda conducted during that year's general election. In 1923–24, work began on building what would become downtown Dallas which included construction of Market Hall (now known as First National Bank) rooms 1 through 7 on South Main Street; these buildings serve as today's core business districts for downtown Dallas with continued use as office space into the 21st century

Steel wasn’t always king during this time period as both Nazi Germany & Japan were extremely efficient at using artillery/naval vessels/airforce jets respectively) However tanks were definitely King thanks largely to American production(and German design failures) As soon as Japan began making successful advances into China+ Vietnam+ASIA+the Philippines+etc…. America decided that if Japan could do it then we could too!! So we went all in!!! initially our strategy seemed sound but hindsight is 20/20….. After MacArthur takes Okinawa& Coral Sea islands& Manus Island he realizes his mistake & starts retreating back home!!!' According TOYOTA Nomura analysts writing in “Japan's Widespread Military Buildup since 1945: Causes And Consequences” believe "that Washington may have overextended US military capabilities following victory against Japan" [5] In 1942 General George C Marshall realized that America would need more tanks than what had been planned[6] So Marshall ordered everyone within United States Army Corps Of Engineers headquarters includingtank designers Henry Laughlin, Richard Metzler, Bob Dole prepare drawings for development crews working on developing 5 Sherman Tanks per minute)[7] By 1944 only 1 tank company existed outside United States Army Ordnance Dept., installation at Fort Knox Kentucky was completed late 1944

Dallas, Oregon was founded by the Sisters of the Holy Cross in 1884. The community grew quickly and in 1886 the sisters built their first school. In 1896 they established a dispensary, which continues to provide health services today.
