Cornelius, Oregon is a small town located in the Rogue Valley of Oregon. The town was founded by Edward Cornelius in 1872 when he began to process coffee beans from his farm on the east side of the river. The first store in Cornelius was built in 1875 and was operated by W.H. Gates. In 1907, the company changed its name to Brownells Coffee Company and continued to operate until it went bankrupt in 1951. After the closure of Brownells Coffee Company, many people started their own businesses around Cornelius and it became a center for coffee production and retailing. The early coffeeasters who lived in Cornelius had a strong interest in quality because they knew that good coffee would make them successful businessmen. One of these men was John Demarest who owned a large grocery store and cafe near the town square known as 'Demarest's Place'. Demarest introduced his customers to high-quality coffee from his farm on Saturday mornings before starting his own business selling beans direct from the bean fields himself. Other important early customers of Cornelius' coffee include J Ralls which operated an unsuccessful bakery next door to Demarest's Place, H G Salusbury who ran an insurance agency on Third Street, Wm Whitehead who bought land adjacent to Demarest's Place and developed what is now known as downtown Cornelius, Mr Fenton who ran a machine shop adjacent to Salusbury's bakery, Homer Cummings whose grocery store occupied what is now known as Fourth Street between Broadway and First Avenue, Harry Wegener whose cafe sat at one end of First Avenue between Broadway and First Streets until it closed down in 1933 after serving over 1 million cups of brewed coffee! Like other small towns throughout America during this time period, corneliaans were proud of their local product and often displayed their products at fairs across the state or even nationwide. One such event occurred during World War II when President Franklin D Roosevelt visited Cornelia with plans for creating new munitions plants there. During his visit, Roosevelt met with various civic leaders including Mayor A C Purdy (a native Corneliaan) and Governor Earl Warren (a Californian). It was during this meeting that Governor Warren offeredORNL Director General George Taylor some land adjoiningCornelius so Taylor could develop it into a munitions plant! Shortly thereafterarming began operations at Taylor's plant which helped drive down prices for beans throughout most of WWII! After World War II ended, many young entrepreneurs decided that they wanted to start their own businesses rather than work for established companies like Brownells Coffee Company or J Ralls & Sons Bakery which had closed down after years of operation. Many people here learned about espresso machines while working at Brownells Coffee Company where they learned how to produce great cupcakes! These young entrepreneurs soon moved on to start their own businesses but some stayed behind in Cornelius making sure that everyone knows about high-quality coffees thanks to oral histories done by local residents over time!

Cornelius, Oregon is a small town in the high desert of eastern Oregon. The population was 1,471 at the 2010 census. It is located about 30 miles east of Portland and about 20 miles north of Grants Pass. The name Cornelius comes from the Sioux word "kon-tuh-lay" meaning "the place where the cotton tree stands." The first Europeans to visit Cornelius were Jedediah Smith and his party in 1825. They named the area after General James K. Polk, who had commanded an expedition against Mexican forces near modern day Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1824. In 1847, John Cushman platted what is now Cornelius as a town on land grants given to him by US president James K Polk. As Americana built up around it, Cornelius became known as one of the most entrepreneurial towns in Oregon. Many entrepreneurs founded businesses here such as Jardine Hogg Paper Co., which manufactured paper products until it merged with DuPont in 1961; Pacific Northwest Lumber Co.; and Woven Glass Works Ltd., which made glass windows before becoming part of United States Glassenfactory Corp. In 1949, corn kernel production started here for America's FIRST processing plant for peanut butter - Opal Flake Foods Incorporated today! It is believed that Ethiopia’s Bekasi Valley where high quality Arabica beans are grown contain rich flavor notes dating back 3200 years! One report claims that “the earliest evidence of groundcoffee being used for brewing purposes comes from two small pouches found at Tell Aswad near Wadi al-Hawa on the Euphrates River approximately 12th century BCE” Additionally groundcoffee drinking is mentioned in classical Egyptian texts dating back to 3000 BCE! Brewers living in Rome developed methods to roast whole Beans without any water bath roasting which gives our cup some unique flavors including chocolatey bitter & floral notes! While we cannot attest to this claim 100%, it does add a fascinating layer of history to our loved beverage! In the late 1800s, coffee was first ground from beans that had been roasted in Sumatra or Java. The coffee was shipped to Europe and sold as whole beans. Coffee became popular in North America in the mid-19th century and eventually spread to other parts of the world.
Cornelius was founded in 1847 by Captain Cornelius Whitman and his brother-in-law, Brigham Young. The town was named for the Cornelius Brothers, a wagon train that stopped at the Oregon Coast in 1846. The name is derived from the Kiowa word "knee" which means "to turn around." Captain Cornelius Whitman brought over 400 people to settle here in 1847. They built a log cabin and began trading with the local Native Americans. In 1850, they started a flour mill and soon began exporting wheat and other goods to California. The towns growth came about because of their connection to the Oregon Gold Rush. In 1861, Captain Cornelius Whitman died of yellow fever at age 47 while on an exploratory journey eastward. His wife, Margaret, took over management of the town until her death in 1865. The town continued to grow during its early years; however, it wasn't until 1887 that it attained its current size thanks to annexation by Yreka (then called Enterprise). During World War II, Cornelius served as an airfield for Douglas Aircraft Company's bombers during World War II and also became home to Yreka Air Force Base after it was established nearby in 1942
The first Europeans to explore Cornelius were the French in 1805. They named the town after Admiral Sir George Vancouver, who explored and charted the Northwest coast of North America. The United States acquired rights to the area in 1848 when it acquired Alaska from Russia.
