Fresh roasted coffee beans are a popular urban legend in the Portland metropolitan area. The first time I ever tasted fresh roasted coffee was at a small cafe on Naito Parkway in Cornelius, Oregon. It was a delicious, smooth cup of espresso that I enjoyed while sitting in the park across from the school. I have since been to many coffee shops throughout the Portland metropolitan area and sampled many different types of fresh roasted coffee, but this is my favorite type of coffee to date. Fresh roasted coffee is extremely tasty and has a great flavor that can’t be found in any other type of roast. It’s also very affordable which makes it an excellent choice for those who want to enjoy quality caffeine without spending too much money.

Cornelius was founded in 1847 by Cornelius J. Nourse and his wife, Julia. The town was named after the Cornelius River, which flows through the town. The Nourse family ran a general store and post office until their death in 1907. After their deaths, the business passed to their son, John Nourse, who operated it until his death in 1955. The town was then operationally shared between two other sons-in-law, Harry Wirth and Clyde Davidson. In 1978, the town passed from private ownership to Oregon State University as part of a student-led program of community development within OSU's campuses area. Cornelius has experienced many changes throughout its history including growth during World War II due to production at OSU's shipyards; decline following that period due to external factors such as mining industry competition; revival in the 1990s with support from state and federal government programs; and most recently significant redevelopment initiated by university officials under a new economic development strategy called "Oregon Renaissance." The original buildings on Main Street were erected around 1847 when Cornelius became a small trading post along the Salmon River. In 1850, Cornelius began producing flour for local merchants using an early mill built by Amos Eaton on Main Street near present day Union Station. By 1855, corn had also become an important product grown nearby on land acquired by John Ahern from Russian fur buyers over several years earlier. Ahern later donated this land to Oregon State University where it formed part of campus' first greenfield site in 1967 as part of a community redevelopment initiative dubbed "Oregon Renaissance." In 1951 or 1952 both main streets were widened and renamed Columbia Avenue around milepost 9 (today's business district). At that time Cornellius had about 30 settlers living there with three stores and one blacksmith shop among them alluvial rice farmer Lucius Hinton Pritchard who used river waterpower for irrigation purposes some miles upstream from town limits reaching into what is now Drainage District #1 today just east of Interstate 5 exit 134A . Today I-5 Exit 134A leads south towards Salem Witch Trials National Historical Park while Driveway #4 leads north towards Shepherdstown In 1957 OSU professors Harry Wirth and Clyde Davidson bought out Oregon Agricultural College professor Willis Frye for $25 per acre providing seed money for expansion at Cornelia village site northeast across Columbia Ave beyond I-5 exit 134A thence upriver past current day Drainage District #2 into present day Wishram Prairie formerly known as Tillamook County according to Clackamas County Assessor records dating back to 1886 ..... From here Wirth drained 4 acres southeast parcel joining drainage district 2 adjoining Tillamook Co & draining future Village Site further east became property of OSU Extension Service .......
