In 1951, Hansen’s Coffee Corporation opened their first store in Coos Bay. This business continued until they merged with Jamba Juice Corporation in 1984. At this time, Hansen’s Coffee became known as Jamba Coffee Company. In 1990, Jamba Juice Corporation closed their last store in Coos Bay and merged with Starbucks Corporation In 2001, Starbucks Corporation reopened their first store outside of Portland, Oregon which is now called Barnes & Noble stores across the country In 2008, Starbucks corporation closed all their stores globally including those in COOS BAY because they were struggling to compete with Amazon Web Services .
Coos Bay is a town in the U.S. state of Oregon, located on the western coast of the Pacific Ocean. The population was 20,883 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Salem Metropolitan Statistical Area. The land that now Coos Bay was first settled by people from British Columbia in 1855 and named for Captain James Cook who explored the area in 1797-98. The first post office was established in 1856, and it moved to its current location in 1892. During World War II, Coos Bay became a major naval base with USS " Nevada" (BB-48) serving as homeport for several months during 1943-1945; USS "Wasp" (DDG-41) patrolled off shore from 1942 until 1945; and USS "Neptune" (LST-781) served as an amphibious assault ship from 1944 through 1945. In 1951, COOS BAY MIDDLE SCHOOL opened buildings which remain today one of America's most important educational institutions. With increasing competition for students and limited funding available to schools throughout Oregon, COOS BAY MIDDLE SCHOOL has been able to continue providing quality education while meeting ever changing needs since opening its doors 50 years ago!

In 1846, the United States acquired Oregon from Great Britain. In 1847, the U.S. Congress passed the Donation Land Act which granted to Americans "all that part of Northwest America lying within the limits of New Mexico and California." The land was divided into parcels large enough to be surveyed and sold. The first land sales took place in April 1850 and were conducted by American Fur Company agents. Sales continued until 1852 when a moratorium was put in place due to problems with fur trade regulations in China. The first town founded in Oregon was Coos Bay, located on an island in Coos Bay River. It was established by Captain John Sturdy as a trading post for Native Americans and white traders interested in seizing control of the river's commerce. By 1855, Coos Bay had grown to become one of the most important ports on the Pacific Coast because of its location upstream from Chinese settlements along the coast. Coos Bay also played an important role during World War II as it served as a naval base and port for Army troops fighting against Japan throughout Southeast Asia.
