Woodward, Oklahoma is home to the famous Koffee Klatch coffee shop and its history goes back to 1926. The store was founded by Mr. and Mrs. John Koffee, who were both coffee enthusiasts and farmers. In 1951, the Koffees sold their business to a group of businessmen named Harry & Mildred Lohse. The Lohses kept the name of the business until 1978 when they changed it to Woodward Coffee Company Incorporated. The first mention of Woodward Coffee Company came in 1928 when it was mentioned as one of three small businesses that would be opening up in town around that time. It wasn't until 1951 that the store actually opened its doors with Mr. John Koffee as its first owner/operator. At that point, he had already been running his own coffee shop in nearby Poteau for over twenty years! At first, the Klatch traded ground beans direct from their farm while also selling pre-packaged drinks such as milk chocolates or hot cocoa mixes (later becoming known as “Klatch Coffees”). During World War II, Woodward Coffee Company became primarily an ammunition depot for Army soldiers stationed in the area due tothe shortage of beans elsewhere in the country. However, during later years this activity turned into morea commercial venture providing morning coffee for local businessesfolk throughouttown! In 1978, after almost fifty years of operation at 169th Street and Keystone Avenue NW., Harry & Mildred Lohse passed away leaving their business to their son Rusty Lohse Jr.. After several failed attempts at starting a new business following their father's death (including an unsuccessful attempt within five years), Rusty finally succeededin starting Woodward Coffee Company again on May 15th 1990 under new management including himself as President and CEO! A few months later on October 9th 1991, Koffee Klatch closed its doors forever after many customers voted it down for being too expensive to maintain with only 2 employees left on staff! Over time however there have been numerous incarnationsof this same cafe with different owners but always carrying onMr Jacksons legacy of great customer service!

Woodward was a small, unincorporated community in Duncan County, Oklahoma, United States. The community had no school and only one store. It was founded by John Woodward in 1907. In 1916, the town post office was moved to nearby Anadarko and renamed that city after Alfred E. Morrison, a Republican politician from Oklahoma City who had been elected president of the United States in 1916. The town had few residents during its early years because it was too far from any commercial activity or population center. However, as lumber prices increased around World War I, Woodward began to develop as a logging and manufacturing center for the region due to its location at the head of an important timber route. By 1930, Woodward had a population of about 200 people and two churches. The economy changed during World War II when the military requisitioned much of the local timber supply. Though there were some limited manufacturing operations conducted during the war years, most of what grew out of Woodward's industrial growth came during postwar decades when agriculture became more prevalent in the area and businesses such as trucking services began to emerge along with other industries such as plastics manufacture and leather tanning which have continued into this day. Despite this recent history, many aspects of life in Woodward remain unchanged today including its independent post office (founded 1917) which is still located within sight of downtown; its narrow streetscape consisting mostly of residences with few businesses; and its active community service programs which include food bank donations and car wash gifts to local schools
Woodward was founded in 1881 as a small town of only around 200 people, by settlers who crossed the Arkansas River. The original village was located on the east side of the river, about two miles south of current-day Tulsa. Woodward rapidly grew and became an important stagecoach stop on the railroad network. The town's population reached 1,500 by 1900, and 5,000 by 1910. In 1915, Woodward was renamed after General George S. Woodward, who had played a significant role in leading US forces during World War I. The post-World War II boom years for Woodward were prosperous and saw growth in both residential and commercial areas. However, this prosperity came at a price: many residents lost their homes and businesses during the hard times that followed the war. As late as 1979, just over half of all households in Woodward were owner-occupied; however this number had fallen to less than 30 percent by 1990. Since then,residential development has become increasingly dominant in Woodward; however, commercial activity remains strong.
