In 1907, the Oklahoma Territory was organized and the Sapulpa National Guard was formed. The Guard's mission was to provide law and order in the territory. The guard was first stationed in Sapulpa, but it relocated to Tulsa in 1911. In 1924, the Sapulpa National Guard moved again, this time to McAlester. The Sapulpa National Guard has served as a model for many other national guard units across America. In 1969, the Oklahoma Legislature passed an act that designated the Sapulpa National Guard as a state unit of the military. The unit has since been renamed the Oklahoma Army Nationalguard and is headquartered at McAlester Army Base. Today, there are over 1,200 members of the Sapulpa National Guard working throughout Oklahoma and beyond. They play an important role in keeping our community safe and secure during times of peace or emergency.

Sapulpa is a town in Osage County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 1,908 at the 2010 census. It is one of the largest towns in the county and it forms part of the Tulsa Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first permanent settlers in Sapulpa were farmers who arrived from Iowa in 1881. The town was founded on December 3, 1909 by residents of nearby Jenks and Indianola. The name "Sapulpa" was taken from an Apache word meaning "water hole". By 1912, there were stores, a bank and two churches in Sapulpah village; both were wooden structures with sod roofs. In 1923, Sapulpa's post office changed its name to Sapulpa City and it became an incorporated municipality on October 17, 1925. On January 2nd 1957, the city limits were enlarged to include present-day Utica Township as well as most of present-day Haskell County; this annexation created Sapulpa's current metropolitan area which had a population of over 100,000 people as of 2010. On November 12th 2002 rain began falling lightly at around 9:00 Pm local time (2100 UTC) overwhelming some power lines leaving many people without power for several hours later when it rained harder damage also occurred to homes and businesses increased concerns about water main breakages within minutes so emergency crews responded quickly to numerous incidents throughout the city causing disruptions to daily life including schools closing early due to water main breaks while firefighters battled towering flames that rose above downtown buildings creating dangerous conditions For months afterwards cleanup efforts continued with hazardous materials being transported out through unmarked trailers
The National Guard has been a part of the United States since 1792. The first national guard units were raised in West Virginia in 1814 under the War Department Act. The Guards were originally organized into companies, but soon became brigades. In 1861, the 1st Brigade, 2nd Division was created from fragments of three brigades that had been disbanded due to political infighting within the Union army. The brigade was redesignated as the 3rd Brigade, 4th Division in 1862 and again as the 1st Brigade, 4th Division in 1865. In 1903, a bill was passed by Congress which authorized creation of a National Guard Bureau with a mandate to furnish materiel and personnel for guard duty on federal property throughout the country. This legislation also provided for establishment ofNational Guard organizations at state level so that states could have an organization similar to that of the Federal military forces within their borders. On July 1, 1907, all National Guard units were reorganized into brigades and divisions and became known as "national guard troops." Throughout its history, various bills have been passed authorizing or requiring funds be committed to support national guard troops in times of peace or war. Sapulpa is a city in Oklahoma, United States. The population was 5,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Muskogee City–Moore County Metropolitan Statistical Area. Sapulpa is located on the Canadian River and has a humid subtropical climate (Köppen: Cfa). The town of Sapulpa was founded in 1907 by farmers who settled on the banks of the Canadian River. The name "Sapulpa" means "savage place." In 1917, when Oklahoma became an independent republic, Sapulpa's post office was established as the first federal outpost in Indian Territory. In 1924, President Calvin Coolidge awarded Sapulpa the honorary title of "City of Progress." In 1928, Congress passed a resolution declaring July 4th as National Park Day in recognition of its role in American history. In 1941, when World War II began and Oklahoma declared itself an all-out war effort, Sapulpa became one of several U.S. cities to take part in munitions production for military use. During World War II, Sapulpa experienced significant destruction from bombing raids by Allied forces; however, few civilian casualties resulted from these attacks. After the war ended, many small businesses were replaced by large companies that had relocated to Tulsa or other cities during peacetime times; however, some local residents continued to operate small businesses until after 9/11 because they did not feel it necessary to move due to wartime restrictions on corporate growth within Indian Territory boundaries. On October 1st 1909 Mayor Jock Mahoney named his new town after Bessie Mae Morrison (1887-1958), a white woman who had been born near Tahlequah and died while living with her Cherokee parents on what are now called Oneta Creek Road east of present day SapulPA boundaries - this land later became known as Morrison Landowne Township #2 . Mrs Morrison left behind her home which still stands today adjacent to State Highway 24 just south of where I-40 crosses over into Indian Territory – this property also became known as Morrison Landowne Township #4 . Upon learning about this event Mayor Mahoney created a plaque reading: “To Our Lady Of Mercy God Save Us From These Evil Men And Women Who Would Destroy Our Townspeople And Kill Our Mothers & Fathers They Deserve To Die ” Bessie Mae Morrison Place Name plaque
Sapulpa was founded in 1907 by H. C. Durant and J. Fenton Merrill as a small trading post on the Kansas-Oklahoma border. The town grew rapidly during World War I, with a population of 100 in 1917 and 300 by 1926. During the 1920s, Sapulpa became an important center for oil production in the region, thanks to its location on the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad. In 1929, the town annexed neighboring Poteau to become one municipality. The following year saw Sapulpa's first automobile dealership open its doors; it would remain an important facet of local life until the late 1970s. By 1940, Sapulpa had reached its peak as a commercial center for the region; it boasted a library, two schools, three churches and numerous businesses including banks, grocery stores and theaters. However, during World War II Sapulpa was again hit hard by war-related disruptions; its workforce was limited to men only and many shops were destroyed or closed down entirely due to shortages of materials necessary for combatting Nazi Germany. After the war ended in 1945, Sapulpa began to rebound quickly; it reached its prewar population size but lost some of its cultural significance due to suburbanization and other changesover time.
