The Oklahoma National Guard has been in service since 1907. The Sand Springs National Guard was created on November 1, 1907 and is composed of the state's Army, Air Force, and Navy units. The Guard traces its roots to the organization of a battalion of cavalry in 1881. During World War I, the Guards served as an air defense arm for the Tulsa area. After the war, they began providing military support to local government troops. In 1921, a regiment of cavalry was organized and activated at Sand Springs under command of General John A. Logan III. From then until 1947, when it was disbanded due to budgetary cuts, members from neighboring states also served with the Guards in various capacities including training at Fort Sill and Ft Reno. World War II saw an increase in NG militaries involvement as member states joined forces against Nazi Germany. On April 10th 1942, Oklahoma became one of thirteen states that ratified the United States Constitution; this action allowed NG troops to be sent directly into combat without waiting for mobilization orders from their respective federal governments. With help from the Empire State Building Bomber Command (EBC),NG operations over Japan started on September 2nd 1943 and ended two days later with Japan's surrender. During World War II, NG troops fought Rumania on three different occasions while stationed in Tulsa; these engagements are best known through propaganda films shot bythe UJA Relief Unit during their stay in town during 1944-1945 which were featured extensively on American television programs such as "Hollywood Homicide" and "Chinatown". Since hostilities ceased in 1945 there have been few major changes to NG troop composition or mission; however recent budget cuts have forced reductions across all armed services within OU which has impacted both active duty/Regular forces along with reserve components A total of 1125 members serve within the Oklahoma National Guard consisting of: Regular Army (including Reservists), Air Force Reserve (including ANG unit deployments), Marine Corps Reserve Component (MCRC) & Coast Guard Reserve Component (CGRC). Of these Regulars only 5% are commissioned Officers while 75% are enlisted soldiers who perform a variety of duties including security checkpoints throughout OU townships & rural areas In addition to their regular duties any member can mobilized for up to 6 months immediately upon notification by chain mail or email As mentioned beforeNational guard gift history dates back over 100 years! In 1933, the Oklahoma National Guard became an active duty service with a staff officer corps. The unit was redesignated the 1st Infantry Division in 1945 and again in 1951 as 2d Infantry Division. The division was concurrently activated for overseas service in 1957-1958; it returned home on Okinawa after campaigns against Korea and Japan. In 1959, 1st Infantry Division was reorganized as 3d Infantry Division which remained inactive until its activation as a permanent army division on October 16, 1960 (originally called 3d Brigade Combat Team). On November 15th of that year it deployed to Vietnam under United States Army amplification command - First Cavalry Regiment (1st Cav) supported by tanks/infantry elements from other divisions within 1st ACD Reserves

The town of Sand Springs, Oklahoma was founded in 1907 by a group of settlers. The town was named after the sand dunes that were located near the community. The founders of Sand Springs decided to name their town after the location where they found saltpeter, which was necessary for manufacturing munitions. In 1912, the first post office was established in Sand Springs. The first mayor of Sand Springs was Wiley Hoyle. In 1916, a school was built inSand Springs and served as the primary educational facility for the community until it closed in 1962. From 1917-1925, an armory and factory were also constructed inSand Springs.During World War II, many residents from surrounding communities joined forces with the United States military to fight in Nazi Germany. After the war, most of these residents returned home and businessman Arturo Rubio reopened his business as a restaurant and gift shop called Rubio's at 4th Street and Delaware Avenue in 1949. By 1960, there were only two businesses remaining within Sand Springs- Rubio's and Donny & Marie's Bakery which had been operated by Donny since 1951- both facing closure due to economic conditions at that time. However, due to its proximity to Tulsa City Limits (Tulsa), Saunders Boulevard became one of the most popular thoroughfares in town during this time period thanks to its wide variety of retail stores including department stores such as Sears Roebuck & Co., JCPenney & Co., Kmart Corporation, etc.; pawn shops; liquor dealers; auto mechanics; campsites; golf courses; etc.; making it an important commercial artery for local merchants throughout middle America during this era
Sand Springs is a city in and the county seat of Sand Springs County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 2,834 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tulsa metropolitan area. The first residents of what is now Sand Springs were farmers who settled there around 1872. A post office was established in 1875, and by 1888 there were over 100 residents. The town was named for General James Benge (1814-1890), an officer in the Union army during the American Civil War and a member of Congress from Kansas Territory. Benge's home still stands within the city limits today as does the Benge Museum which tells about his life and work. The railroads arrived in 1904 when Eastern Railroad extended its line from Guthrie to Tulsa through Sand Springs on its way to Wichita Falls, Texas. By 1907, easterners had turned down an offer from Rockwell Automotive & Manufacturing Company to build a car factory here; instead they built what is now known as Midland Hotel across Main Street from where they currently stand on Fourth Avenue NW.. In 1908 Midland merged with Western Union Telegraph Company which had been founded two years earlier as a wire service between Wichita Falls and Fort Worth, Texas; both companies continued operations under their new ownership until 1911 when Western Union sold Midland to Oklahoma Telephone Co., one of several Telephone Companies organized inOklahoma that year. In 1916 Eastern Dallas Electric Railway extended its line eastward from Tulsa into Sand Springs making it possible for people living near downtown Tulsa to travel by train no matter how far away they lived On November 25th 1915 US Signal Corps Major William Hainsworth deployed signals along an old rancho called Hillcrest after he saw potentialities for Signaling services on that property north of town adjacent to Ulysses S Grant Ranch south of present day Indianola High School . From this point forward Major Hainsworth began providing signals services hereunder Military control until 1947 when Signal Corps withdrew all signals operations from Sand Springs effective February 1st 1947 . On December 4th 1920 OKC telephone company purchased Morse Wireless Service located west side of main street between Second and Third streets - this company would be renamed PTC Telephones Incorporated later that year
