Army deployed gift history in Ponca City, Oklahoma began in the early 1920s. The Ponca City Army Depot was founded in 1921 and became the home of the United States Military Command Post (USMC) in 1944. In 1919, General Edwin E. "Buzz" Aldrin Jr., then a colonel with the 1st Cavalry Division, donated land to the city for an Army post and parade ground. The primary use of this park until World War II was as a training ground for cavalry officers during maneuvers on Indian reservations near Ponca City. The first deployment of military forces from American soil took place on November 9th, 1922 when members of Company K, 3rd Infantry Regiment stationed at Ponca City were called to duty for two weeks on account of a drought in Kansas. A detachment from Company L also served at that time but it is unknown if they ever deployed outside of Oklahoma. On February 14th 1923, elements of Company H arrived at the depot to take up assignments within the newly constructed Barracks and Quarters Building which had been completed just prior to their arrival. Other barracks located within or adjacent to the depot included: Brigade Headquarters building (1924), Supply Depot Building (1925), mess hall (1926), rifle range (1927-29), Machine Gun Range(1930-32). On May 6th 1925 Major General Holland Smith announced plans for Camp Aldrin to be established in nearby Woodward County which would house both American Soldiers and Filipino Scouts under his command should World War I break out again between America and Great Britain or Japan should Fortress Manila fall into Japanese hands like Singapore did in 1941? At Camp Aldrin American Officers received instruction from Philippine Officers including Field Marshal Frank T MacArthur who later became Commander-in-Chief Pacific Theater Eighth Air Force during World War II. This event marked not only an expansion by US Forces into new Territory but also Homecoming for many servicemen who had served abroad before coming back stateside during WWI or WWII! The camp closed its doors permanently on July 15th 1931 after serving 8 years! After eight years without any major deployments there were finally some small deployments beginning with Lieutenant Colonel John S Cline's unit traveling west across Canadian borders on October 25th 1929 while attached to 2nd Battalion 7th Cavalry Regiment participating in an Annual Cowboy Roundup held at Cimarron Ranch near Drumheller, Alberta Canada! His unit returned safely home October 30th 1929!!! In November 1930 Captain Charles F Blythe's unit departed Fort Worth Texas bound for seed storage facilities near Waco TX where they would await orders to deploy along side units from other commands across North America including such amazing contingents as airmen from Douglas Aircraft Corporation's B-17 Flying Fortress Bomber Wing operating over Europe!! By December 8TH 1930 all units mustered out at Camp Aldrin except those assigned to support occupation duties pending further orders being issued!!!!!!!!!!!!! All equipment/units must have been properly processed/checked prior departure including baggage checker/tagger!!! After nearly 10 years no significant deployments occurred at Ponca City Army Depot!!!!!!

Ponca City is a city in Haskell County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 7,816 at the 2010 census. Ponca City is part of the Tulsa metropolitan area. It is named for Spanish explorer and surveyor Gabriel García Márquez who explored the area in 1827. Ponca City was founded on October 12, 1888 by John W. White and his brother-in-law J.M. Burnett as a town in Haskell County to serve as a depot for cattle that were being driven from Kiowa County to Wichita Falls, Texas. After several years of growth, Ponca City became an incorporated city on November 1, 1912 under the name of McAlester Junction (named after McAlester, Oklahoma). The McAlester Junction name was removed from the city on May 1, 1916 when it became part of Tulsa proper; however it continued to be called Ponca City until its incorporation into Tulsa proper. The first post office in Poncha City was established on December 12, 1888 with A.W. Handy as mail carrier; it closed on July 6th of that year because of financial difficulties caused by railroad construction near the town site which had been purchased by the post office for $5 per acre (). On January 5th 1909District 3 rancher A Fritchey donated land east of townline to establish a school district known as "The Fritcheys' School District" (). On February 14th 1911the first home built in PonchaCity -an adobe structure-was dedicated by Mrs . Ethel Ackerlund . Classes began at The Fritcheys' School District on September 30th 1911 under Superintendent Drury Hodge and soon other schools were added includinggradeschoolsandauniversityinstitute(). Education here would continue through World War II when all major U S cities experienced large declines due to war productionnone more so than PonchaCity which lost over ninety percent of its residents due to military service On October 2nd 1914the last student graduated from The Fritchey's School District with Mr . Harry Laughlin receiving his diploma proclaiming "A time has come when education can truly provide economic security" Today many people remember these days long ago when they would take their children out fishing or Scout camp outside during summertime just outside Ofc limits but today there are no restrictions what so ever you can go out there Pok Choy style

It involvedOperation Neptune’s Spear (codenamed “ Dragonfly”), whichinvolved 5500th Infantry Division serving under US General Creighton Abrams with Task Force Windsors leading from Norway into Czechoslovakia after crossing through Yugoslavian airspace. This operation resulted in 30000 casualties among 60000 troops before being completed successfully with no lossof life

Ponca City was founded in 1907 by the Ponca Indians. The city was named after a small stream that flows through the area. The first post office in the city was established in 1909. In 1912, Ponca City became the capital of Oklahoma Territory and it remained as such until 1907 when it was renamed to Oklahoma City. The population of Ponca City increased significantly during World War I due to the relocation of several hundred military personnel to the city from other parts of OKla on suspicion that they might be used as spies or sabotaged munitions plants. The population peaked at over 2,500 in 1920 before declining slightly until 1930 when it reached 1,500 again. During World War II, Ponca City experienced an influx of Japanese Americans because many American businesses had been closed down by the war effort. As a result of this growth, many new housing developments were built near downtown and southcentral Avenue- becoming one of Oklahoma's most vibrant cities during its time as an American Indian majority city.
The Ponca City area was first settled by the Pawnees in the late 18th century. The town was founded on the banks of the Arkansas River, and named after a nearby Indian village. The first European to visit Ponca City was Captain James Cook in 1792, and he called it "Wilkinson's Town" after his British captain, Sir John Wilkinson. In 1821, General Osage Chief Manuel Lisa made an attack on Ponca City that resulted in the death of many residents and destruction of much property. After this event, most residents moved to what is now Tulsa or Oklahoma City. Ponca City experienced its peak development during World War II as a manufacturing center for munitions production for both Germany and Japan. Many businesses closed during the war, but Ponca City still has significant military history including six United States Air Forces Bases within its boundaries which supportedOperation Mainstream (the strategic bombing of Japan).
