The Coast Guard Auxiliary in Owasso, Oklahoma has been providing emergency services to the community since 1920. The Coast Guard Auxiliary was founded as a voluntary organization of citizens who wanted to support their local military. In 1941, the Coast Guard Auxiliary became an official government agency with the creation of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Today, the Coast Guard Auxiliary provides emergency services to communities along the Gulf of Mexico and inland waterways in Oklahoma and Texas. The Coast Guard Auxiliary is responsible for many important tasks within our community, including providing law enforcement officers with state-of-the-art technology; conducting search and rescue operations; distributing food and water to needy families; ASSIST missions (assistance training missions);and more.
