The Oklahoma Air National Guard (OANA) was activated in 1912 and has always been a part of the state’s Defense Force. The OANA is an independent branch of the state government, responsible for both military and civilian functions. The organization is divided into two sections: the Aerospace Section which provides air support to Okmulgee County Sheriff’s Office; and the Army Reserve Section which offers Soldiers and civilians assistance with civilian tasks. The OANA also operates three helicopters, one at Tinker AFB in Oklahoma City, one at Goodfellow AFB in Lawton, Oklahoma City, and one at McAlester AFB in Tulsa. The first helicopter arrivals were made by United States Army Aviation Forces on April 12th 1920 when a Sikorsky S-39D was delivered to the OANA from General Motors Aircraft Corporation. A total of thirty-six helicopters have been operated by the OANA since then including five Chinooks®, six Bell UH-1 Hueys®, four Bell 412As*, three Beechcraft Baron treks(), two Boeing EC-135 Stratotankers*, one Piper PA-28 Cherokee Pawnee*and two Embraer E2 Brasilia*. Since 1990, there has been an attached detachment of USAF Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) providing air cover to law enforcement activities as well as ceremonial events throughout the state. The Oklahoma Air National Guard's 136th Fighter Wing, which is located in Okmulgee, has a long history of providing gift history to the community. The wing has Gift History Day each year on December 5th and annually provides gifts to local organizations and individuals. In 2017, the wing donated over $10,000 in gifts to local organizations.
Okmulgee is a city in Tulsa County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 21,824 at the 2010 census. The city is the county seat of Tulsa County. It is part of the Tulsa Metropolitan Statistical Area. Okmulgee was founded in 1872 by John Clements and his brother John Averill Okmulgee as a trading post on the Red River. In 1875, Okmulgee became an independent town when it seceded from Tulsa County. The name "Okmulgee" comes from the Choctaw word "okmunji," meaning "place where people can trade." In 1907, Okmulgee incorporated as a city under the General City Law No. 1 of 1907. On July 16, 1913, its first mayor was Wernher Hesseman and its first recorder was Waddell Ewing Smith Jr.. On November 3, 1938, OkmULGE went through another reorganization which changed its charter to that of an Urban District with full powers to make laws and ordinances not inconsistent with those of the City Government but still subject to approval by either body; this change also gave it power to annex or separate villages within its limits without prior consent of either body; on December 8th 1934 finally all Village boundaries were annexed into OkMULGEE thus forming what we now know as Midtown Tulsa
The United States Air Force has a long and proud history of deploying gift-wrapped items as part of military tribute. Gifts have been sent to countries all over the world, in both official and unofficial capacities. One particular tradition that began with the USAF was air force gifted items exchange programs. These were programs where service members would send their favorite civilian products or articles to other units in the USAF. This allowed for a continued dialogue between the USAF and its civilian partners, as well as helped to build relationships of trust and goodwill. Throughout its history, the USAF has also engaged in special deployments in order to commemorate important moments or events within its own culture or community. One such event occurred on November 11th, 1995 when President George H.W. Bush traveled to Japan in order to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Japan- United States Security Treaty. The USGift program contributed more than 1,000 gifts from throughout American society to Japanese nationals during this commemorative visit!

Oklahoma was one of the most important U.S. states in the early days of the country. The area that is now Oklahoma was part of Mexico until 1821, when it became a U.S. state under President James K. Polk and then admission into the Union as the 27th state on November 8, 1907. The town of Okmulgee, located about 60 miles northeast of Tulsa on I-40 and County Line Road (now US-166), was founded by Hance Wagoner in 1872 as a trading post on what is now known as Old Choctaw Nation land east of present-day Tulsa. In 1907, Okmulgee became an incorporated city and began to grow rapidly as a commercial center for eastern OKLAHOMA COUNTY with its many stores and businesses along First Street NW and West Broadway NW between Music Avenue NE and University Avenue NE
The first Europeans to explore and map the area that is now Okmulgee were French traders in the late 18th century. The Wallowa River region was explored by Captain John McLaughlin in 1795, and Spanish explorer Antonio de la Hoz visited the area in 1796. By 1800, white settlers had started moving into the area, and by 1810, they had founded a town called Pawhuska on the present-day Oklahoma–Kansas border. The town was abandoned after a smallpox outbreak killed most of the settlers in 1811. In 1819, Indian trader David Riese discovered oil near what is now Tulsa City Limits. In 1830, two companies organized to drill for oil in central Oklahoma named Cleveland and Houston struck oil at Spring Creek near Nowata. This led to increased interest inOklahomaOklahoma Territory became part of Mexico as part of its Mexican–American War (1846–48). On February 2, 1847, Congress passed an act creating Oklahoma Territory from land east of the Arkansas River that was ceded to Mexico as part of that war effort. The territory was divided into three parts: eastern Oklahoman Territorial District (including present-day Tulsa), westernOklahoma Territory (which included all of modern day Oklahoma), and northern Kansas Territory (which included all of Kansas'). On January 1, 1907, Oklahoma became an independent state when it ratified an amendment to the United States Constitution granting voting rights to Native Americans living within its borders.
