The first coffee shop in Norman, Oklahoma was opened by the partnership of George and Dora Morrison in 1922. The first cup of Java was served at this location. In 1925, the first café in Norman opened with a menu that included coffee, pastries and sandwiches. By 1929, the Morrison brothers had sold their business to Harry Schmidt who operated it until his death in 1951. From 1951-1957, J.C. Nicholsoperated the Normans Coffee Shop which became one of the most popular caffeine spots in town. In 1978, Jerry Wesson reopened Normans Coffee Shop as an Italian restaurant under the name Pazzi's Pizza which continued to serve coffee until 1985 when it closed down again due to financial troubles.
