In 1951, JB Simons started serving roasted beans from his farm in Northwest Oklahoma. In 1957, Bob Brown opened the Brown Coffee Shop on Tenth Street in downtown Midwest City. The shop continued to serve roasted beans until it closed in 1992. In 1964, Joe's Coffee House was founded by Joe Sacco and Jerry Lewis with their first roast of coffee being served at Joe's Café on Ninth Street in downtown Midwest City. In 1977, Dave & Buster's began serving roasted beans at their plaza located on First Avenue North near KFC across from Midwestern State University campus in northwest Oklahoma. In 1988, Dutch Bros.' began serving roasted beans at their plaza located on Third Avenue North near Walmart across from Crossroads Elementary School east of town center in northeast Oklahoma In 1990, Starbucks began selling its first espresso drinks at their cafe location on Tenth Street just north of downtown Midwest City which continues to be open today as a full-service café with seating for over 100 people. In 1997-1998, Publix began selling roasts of coffee through an online order service called "Coffee Cart" which allowed customers to purchase pre-packaged roasts or whole bean coffees online without having to go into any stores .

Midwest City was founded on October 10, 1907 by J. C. Nichols as a small settlement on the banks of the Mockingbird River overlooking what is now Tulsa. The city's nickname, "The Birthplace of Tulsa," comes from its location at one time being within easy walking distance of both downtown Tulsa and Osage Hillsretched to its borders by State Highway 95 (SH 95) which bisects it from east to west and north to south. Coffee become a global commodity after Portugal discovered new beans near Brazil in 1555 and started exporting them to Europe and North America. By the end of the 18th century, over two million hectares (5% of all land area) were devoted to coffee plantations globally with yields reaching 100 kg/ha (2 lb/acre). At this point advances in technology allowed for large-scale production with yields increasing up to 1 hectare per hectare (4 acres/acre). With larger plantations came better quality beans which reached a higher price through world markets; however some small farmers managed to produce high quality beans under difficult conditions until World War II when improved methods led to an increase in world production by 50%.
