West Side Highway (now Interstate 35)opened up much of what is now Midwest City on November 7, 1959 when it connected Oklahoman cities east of Tulsa with those west of Tulsa through downtown Tulsa while still maintaining its original routing as an arterial road rather than following what is now I-35W between Tulsa and Muskogee Falls alongAvoiding metropolitan areas such as Tulsa or McAlester (both which grew very rapidly around this time). The first business opening up inside Downtown OKC on West Side Highway were beauty salons run by German immigrants who called themselves "Haagen Dazs". Other early businesses that opened up included two banks - First National Bank (1949) & United States Trust Company (1957). One should also mention that there were no malls until about 1980 when Home Depot opened up next door on Sheridan Road which fueled development for downtown Midtown area today!

Midwest City was founded in 1881 as an agricultural and ranching community on the east side of what is now Muskogee County. It became a town in 1907 and then a city in 1913. In 1970, it became one of five cities in Oklahoma to be annexed by Tulsa. In 2002, it merged with Tulsa's southside to form one large city called Home Depot OKC which has since grown again thanks to its location near Interstate 25 and oil shale production site east of downtown Tulsa. The history of Midwest City goes back to 1881 when farmers settled on land that would later become Muskogee County. The first residents were those who hadCome overland from Kansas Territory during the American Civil War: their descendants still live there today. They planted crops and raised livestock and built homes using logs cut from local forests. By 1907, people had moved into Midwest City from all over Texas and Mexico for what was supposed to be a new railroad town just off the main line between Wichita Falls,Texas (now Wichita)and El Paso, New Mexico (now Chihuahua). A group of businessmen pooled resources to build this town on rich land north of present-day Midtown Tulsa – they thought they could make money selling goods passersby couldn’t find anywhere else within reach! They were right – early residents made good money buying groceries at store fronts or hauling them home on their wagon wheels! In 1913, when Oklahoma Statehood was granted to Oklahoma, Downtown Boise (later renamed Midtown) received its first resident: banker Charles Fenton Withers! After some hard work getting business started he named hisStreet after himself – “Fenton Way†still stands today as one of Downtown’s most popular destinations for nightlife and shopping! Municipal services began operation in 1914 when water mains were installed; electricity wasn’t available until 1947! And although gasoline wasn’t available until 1951 (!), citizens managed to get streetlights up by 1925!. The automobile industry really took off here starting with Standard Oil Company automobiles produced locally starting around 1928!!! This growth continued through World War II as many men left agriculture for service; however following1945 many businesses closed because there weren’t enough jobs coming back after the war ended!! After World War II did some reverse migration back into agriculture but also other industries such as plastics manufacturing/production increased due especially due to petrochemical companies looking for sites outside rural areas accessible via I-25This led eventually to downtown becoming majority white commercial center while remaining black residential neighborhoods gradually gentrified
Midwest City was founded in 1907 by John L. Polk and his brother, George W. Polk. The city's first post office was established in 1909. In 1915, Midwest City became the county seat of Payne County. In 1928, the Oklahoma Legislature designated Midwest City as the state capital of Oklahoma. In 1933, the city annexed the unincorporated communities of Emporia and Yukon (now part of Muskogee). The city continued to annex new communities until it had a population of over 100,000 people. The Central Avenue Bridge was completed in 1936 and served as a major artery for traffic between Downtown Oklahoma City and various outlying areas of the city.
